Senior Yadira Barbosa led the charge for the Madill track and field team with a trio of high places in the Lake Country Conference Meet last week.
Barbosa was third in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:42.04, fourth in the 800 at 2:34.06 and fourth in the 3,200 meters in 12:01.49.
Isabell Stuckey had a big performance with a second in the 300 hurdles at 49.75 seconds and fourth in the 100 hurdlesin18.19.Shewasalso the anchor leg for Madill’s third place sprint relay and 800 relay units.
Teaming with Stuckey in the sprint relay were Joshlynn Clayburn, Tillie Chapa and Hadon Stuckey as they clocked in at 50.96 seconds with the same grouping notching a time of 1:48.19 in the 800 relay.
Hadon Stuckey added a third in the 200 meters at 26.62 seconds with Clayburn capturing fifth in the 100 meters in 13.22. Hannah Pruitt posted a fifth in the 100 hurdles in 18.84, Uriana Rivera was fourth in the 300 hurdles at 52.49 and Jeylah Cabrales crossed the line in 53.31 for fifth in the same event.
On the boys’ side, Aroddy Camacho was runner-up in the 400 meters with a flying time of 50.81 seconds. Jaxon Diaz added third in the 200 in 23.15 while teammate Justin Smith placed fifth at 23.20. Ryder Douglas was also fourth in the 800 meters by posting a time of 2:05.62.
The Wildcats’ 800 relay squad of Camacho, Dayden Ramos, Diaz and Smith placed third in 1:31.79 and the 3,200 unit of Douglas, Blane Hawthorne, Jayden Barbosa and Alex Gonzalez ended fourth in the 3,200 relay with a time of 8:42.02.
Madill’s middle school runners performed very well with the Wildcats claiming the conference junior high championship.
The catalyst was Kamden Martin as he took gold in both the 400 meters (56.63 seconds) and the 800 (2:12.39). In the 3,200 relay, Martin also teamed with Rylan Stuckey, Noah Blackburn and Brantley Eppler to grab first place with a mark of 9:29.95.
In the discus, Marcos Martinez was second with QuintonSandersthird.Inthe high jump, Marquis Ibarra took second with Eppler ending third. Sanders was third in the shot put, Eppler added a third in the 3,200 meters and Dusty James checked in fourth in the 300 hurdles.
The Wildcats picked a runner-up finish in the 1600 relay with the team of Martin, James, Eppler and Blackburn. They also added a fifth in the sprint relay in grouping James, Ibarra, Gomez and Blackburn.
Aubrey Orr was stellar for the Madill girls to win the shot put at 33 feet, 1 inch as well as the discus at 110 feet, 9 inches. Kinsley Troxtell also chipped in a third in the discus.
Catalina Valadez contributed a third in the 3,200 meters and fourth in the 1,600 meters. Ellie Cabrales took fifth in the 400.
A trio of relay teams all placed fourth, including the sprint relay unit of London Brown, Makenzie Merworth, Charlotte Wallace and Caitlynn Parrot. Brown, Merworth and Wallace teamed with Alyna Stuckey in the 800 relay while it was Brown, Wallace, Reigan McMichael and Cabrales taking fourth in the 1600.
Madill’s 3,200 relay quartet of Valadez, Dayanara Martinez-Valenciano, Cabrales and Hadley Schneider took fifth.
