The Lady Redskins only tallied a 10-8 edge in hits but took full advantage of five Lady Panther errors to break open a tight contest after the second inning.
Coach Aaron Minor’s squad took the lead they would never relinquish with two runs in the top of the first inning utilizing their speed on the bases and just one hit byStroud.DextryBowerman belted a double in the second frame for Kingston’s lone hit in a two-run outburst that extended the lead to 4-1.
After Latta narrowed the gap in its half of the second, the Lady Redskins doubled their scoring output in the third stanza while beginning to pull away. Ava Bain smacked a run-scoring double and Keeton Hatley tossed in a two-run triple as the big blows in that inning. Kingston’s offense kicked into high gear in the fourth, plating seven runs with five hits. Kanna Stroud smashed the first home run of the season over the leftfield fence to knock in a pair of runs. Madi Hammondpostedtwosingles in the inning as the Lady Redskins batted all the way around the lineup putting things out of reach.
Hammond, Stroud and Bain each finished with two hits as Hatley, Bowerman, Destry Davis and Gracie Bridgman added one apiece. Bridgman combined with Stroud in the pitching victory as they scattered eight hits, three earned runs, struck out three and walked one.
The Lady Redskins will be on the road this weekend for the rugged Ripley Tournament before hosting defending district titlist Silo in a huge showdown on Tuesday.
