Madill softball splits wild pair at Ardmore

Madill put up massive offensive numbers but managed just a split of a district closing fastpitch softball twinbill with Ardmore.

The Lady Wildcats cruised to a 15-4 win in the opener before coming out on the wrong side of a wild 21-18 slugfest.

Class 4A regionals for Madill will be held at Cache this week with a field of teams that also includes Clinton and their opening round opponent Harrah.

Freshman Aubrey Orr was tremendous in the pitching circle to pick up the initial Ardmore victory as she fired all five innings of the run rule, yielding only one earned run and one hit with five strikeouts andonewalkwhileovercoming four defensive errors.

After a scoreless first stanza, the Madill offense kicked into gear, scoring multiple run each of the following four innings. A Chloe Miller double was the key blow in a two-run second frame that put them ahead to stay and Orr ignited another two-run outburst with a double in the third as well.

Orraddedherseconddouble whileLanaWigingtonandEmersyn Thomas also smacked two-baggers in a six-run uprising in the fourth inning before the Lady Wildcats put it completely away with five tallies a frame later fueled by a Jade Soto double.

Kinsley Troxtell fueled the Madill offense with three hits and two runs batted in with Orr, Wigington, and Soto all notching a pair of hits. Tillie Chapa, Thomas, Miller and Leighton Clement had one hit apiece.

Madill exploded for a seasonbest 23 hits in the crazy district final but were also hurt by a whopping 14 errors.

Every Lady Wildcat starter had at least one hit with Miller going a perfect five-for-five, including a double, triple and three batted in.

Orr contributed four hits, including a double and triple, with Soto also adding four hits. Troxell doubled and ended with three hits and three RBI, Wigington and Chapa posted two hits each while Clement, Karma Williams and Layne Albright all had one hit.
