Strong performances including seven individual regional championships catapulted the Kingston track and field team to team runner-up finishes in both girls and boys at the Class 3AregionalmeetonSaturday in Atoka.
The Lady Redskins took second behind only powerhouse Washington while the boys checked in only behind Marlow on the leaderboard.
AhostofKingstonathletes qualified and will be competing in the Class 3A state meet which is slated for this Friday and Saturday at Plainview.
Leading that charge for the girls was freshman Kate Ratzlaff who ran a personal best 45.52 seconds in the 300 hurdles to take the gold medal. She was also third in the 100 hurdles at 16.69 seconds with teammate Natalie Howell ending sixth in 18.67.
Sophomore Daisy Avery took home the 3,200 meters crown with a personal best mark of 12:14.06 and she was also fourth in the 1,600 meters, crossing the stripe in 5:44.10.
Kingston’s other girls regional champ was Alyssa Langford in the pole vault as she posted a winning mark of 10 feet, 6 inches.
The Lady Redskins had a pair of personal bests in the 800 with Addie Cole claiming second at 2:30.60 and Avery Ludrick clocking a 2:37.04 for sixth place. Ava Russell checked in second in the 200 meters in 26.03 seconds and Coby Davis had a personal best 16 feet, one-half inch leap in the long jump for fourth place overall.
All four Kingston relay teams posted second place finishes to qualify for state.
The sprint relay unit of Davis, Ratzlaff, Russell and Cassidy Walker clocked in at 50.61 seconds with 800 relay foursome of Davis, Kenley Hallum, Olivia McAlister and Russell notching a time of 1:47.54.
Davis, Hallum, Ratzlaff and Russell combined for a mark of 4:09.10 in the 1,600 relay with the 3,200 squad composed of Avery, Cole, Ludrick and Cassie McAlister posting a time of 10:24.09.
Seniors Cash Walker and Sam Walker each claimed a pair of regional titles to spur the Kingston boys.
Cash won the 110 hurdles in 15.44 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 39.88 seconds. TeammateCoyAndertonwas just behind in second for both events, clocking a 16.08 in the 110 hurdles and 42.11 in the 300 hurdles.
Sam meanwhile rolled to the400meterschampionship with a time of 51.97 seconds and captured the high jump by clearing the bar at 6 feet, 4 inches.
LoganStephenstookhome a pair of silver medals, taking second in the 100 meters in 11.24 seconds as well as the 200 meters in 22.77 seconds.
Isaac Hahn notched a sixth place toss of 126 feet, 10 inches in the discus as well.
Much like the girls, the boys relay squads had a pair of regional runner-up showings in the 800 and 1,600.
The 800 unit of Stephens, Sam Walker, Hudson Everhart andCashWalkercleared the stripe in 1:32.40 with the same group notching a 3:26.70 in the 1,600 event.
Jayden Fraize, Jayden Yates, Christian Davis and Kayden Harjo teamed for a sixth place mark of 9:07.53 in the 3,200 relay but came up just short of advancing to state.
