Daisy Gallegos is a senior at Madill High School. She has attended Madill public schools since kindergarten. She is the daughter of Rogelio and Carmen Gallegos and the sister to Maria and Cristal Gallegos.
Gallegos has been a part of the band since sixth grade, was a cheerleader her freshman year, and has also been involved in Madill FFA. Even though she has stayed so active in school activities, she said her biggest challenge has been balancing classwork, family time, a part-time job, and band. She said her father has been an integral part of her life.
“My father has inspired me in life, because he is the most hardworking and dedicated person I’ve ever known,” she proudly said. “I would like to show my gratefulness to both of my parents. I am honored and blessed to have their love and support.”
“I have been inspired by Mr. Hasty, Ms. Faulkner, and Ms. Howard, because of the time and energy they put into their program to make it extraordinary,” she continued. “Thank you, Mr. Hasty, for always believing in us and helping the band work towards our goals.”
She said out of all her memories, there is one that sticks out.
“My favorite band memory would have to be playing in the stands while watching the game on Friday nights and the band receiving superior ratings at Regional Marching Contest for the past two years back-to-back.”
Gallegos said her advice to the younger class is to be kind, be involved, and appreciate every moment. Her plan after high school is to attend ECU and major in Early Childhood Education.
