Quarterback Baylor Bond threw for 158 yards and a touchdown but the size and power of the Ardmore running game was too much for Madill to overcome in a 42-6 district loss last week.
The Wildcats should have an opportunity to get back in the win column Thursday night when they host winless Chickasha at 7 p.m.
“Offensively we played better in spurts and I think we can take some positives out of that,” said Madill head coach John Heavner. “We limited turnovers and had several things we can learn from. Defensively, we played well early, but kind of let it get away at the end of the first half thanks to some big plays. We have to limit third down penalties that hurt us when we have a chance to get off the field. I was proud of the kids’ effort, especially up front where those guys have battled from start to finish in the trenches with many having to play on both sides of the football.
“Our focus every week is to improve and be at our best. We feel like if we can be at our best this week against Chickasha, we have a good chance to win. They are a more traditional offense than what we have been seeing lately. They are big up front on both sides so it will be important we control the line of scrimmage.”
Rushing the football was a tough proposition against the size and power of the Tigers upfrontbutBondfoundsome opportunities in the passing game, completing 15 of his 33 attempts in the game.
