Kingston girls grabbed the team championship while the Kingston boys wrapped up fourth in the Annual Durant Lion Track Invitational Meet last week.
The Lady Redskins tallied 141 team points to edge Broken Bow by 10 for the top slot in the girls team standings. In the boys’ field, the Redskins were only behind champ Plainview as well as Sulphur and Broken Bow.
Freshman Kate Ratzlaff was the catalyst of the Lady Redskin push to the title, claiming the individual title in both the 100 hurdles at 16.53 seconds and 300 hurdles in 47.30.
Alyssa Langford captured the event crown in the pole vault, winning the event with a mark of 10 feet, 6 inches while teammate Taylor Backenstoes wrapped up sixth at seven feet even.
Another youngster, Daisy Avery, was a high placer in long distance events as she posted a second place mark of 12:32.55 in the 3,200 meters while also checking in fourth in the 1,600 meters at 5:43.28.
Ava Russell was second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.72 seconds while Addie Cole chipped in fourth in the 800 meters by posting a 2:35.77 mark. Coby Davis finished second in the long jump at 16 feet, only one foot in front of teammate Vivian Combs, who was third in 15 feet.
The Lady Redskins again made big things happen in the relay events to spur the championship run as they won the sprint relay in 50.39 seconds as well as the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:47.49.
They were also second in the 1600 relay at 4:13.52 as theKingston“B” unit checked in sixth as well in 4:33.63. The Lady Redskin 3200 relay foursome claimed second as well at 10:46.97.
Cash Walker was the big spark plug for the Kingston boys as he won both hurdle events. The Kingston stalwart took the 110 high hurdles in 15.05 seconds and also placed first in the 300 hurdles with a mark of 39.73 seconds.
Kingston’s other individual champ came in the 400 meters where Sam Walker took home the gold in 52.07 seconds as teammate Hudson Everhart ended fifth at 54.07.
Adding to the team scoring total was Logan Stephens’ 100-meter dash third place mark of 11.19 seconds. Isaac Hahn contributed second in the discus at 132 feet, 9 inches and was also third in the shot put with a heave of 40 feet, 10.5 inches.
Much like the girls’ program, the Redskins made major movement in the team standings with the relay events as they placed in all four.
Kingston’s sprint relay unit was fifth in 45.33 seconds and the 800 relay notched a second place time of 1:31.89. The Redskins’ 1,600-relay grouping took fourth at 3:36.67 and the 3,200-relay squad checked in fifth at 8:56.40.
