Wildcats compete in challenging district duals

Success was hard to come by in the rugged district duals last week as the Madill high school wrestlers dropped all four decisions while the junior high grapplers finished with a 2-2 record.

On the high school side, the Wildcats fell 73-3 to Sulphur, 60-16 against Plainview, 49-29 versus Pauls Valley and 63-13 facing Bridge Creek. The junior high Wildcats fell to Sulphur (48-30) but bounced back to edge Plainview (41-37) and blast Pauls Valley (63-12). They dropped a narrow 3533 verdict to Bridge Creek in the finale.

Madill is slated to compete in the Midwestern Conference Tournament on Friday andSaturdayattheChoctaw Event Center in Durant.

In varsity action, the Wildcats’ only points against Sulphur came at 157 pounds where Bryce Culp scored a 10-7 decision over the Bulldogs’ Jesse Peters.

Against Plainview, Jackson Harper was a 16-5 major decision winner over Roy Banda at 144 pounds and Aroddy Camacho followed with a first period fall win versus Daxon Behrens at 150. The Wildcats’ other triumph was at 175 pounds as Brylon Gibson recorded a second period pin fall over Carter Rush.

ThePaulsValleymatchup was the closest for the Wildcats as they notched five match victories, including a pair of forfeits for Alex Sarabia and Ramiro Rangel at 215poundsandheavyweight respectively.

Brayden Valles picked up a third period fall facing Josh Capuchicio at 132, Harper added a 22-3 technical fall of JoshLewisat144andGibson pinned Antonio Ramirez in the second period for the win at 175 pounds.

Valles added another victory with a 10-1 major decision against Eli Clapp at 132 in the Bridge Creek match. Xavier Diaz was credited with a forfeit at 190 pounds and Dago Gonzalez scored a 7-3 decision victory over Jacob Johnstonatheavyweight. For the Madill junior high, Adrian Colescott, Daeton Brown, Brayden Valles, Rodrigo Cruces and Alex Sarabia all scored pin falls in the opening loss to Sulphur.

The Wildcats utilized pin fall wins by Colescott, Valles, JaxonKlutinis,StevenMoreno and Sarabia along with a forfeit to Teo Barrientos and technical fall from Brown to pulloutthenarrowPlainview victory.

Brown,LayneDorer,Neymar Camacho,RyderHutton, Klutinis, Valles, Moreno and Gonzalez all had pin fall triumphs in the Pauls Valley romp. Colescott and Cruces picked up forfeits and Ranger Willis was an 11-1 decision victor.

The Bridge Creek dual went to the wire with the Wildcatscomingupjustshort despite fall wins from Barrientos and Valles. Colescott, Cruces and Sarabia received forfeits while Moreno added a 6-1 decision.
