On March 18, 2025, a UTV accident claimed the life of Connor Ray McKinney. McKinney, 14 of Elgin, was born october 22, 2010 in Duncan, Okla.
McKinney, who was lovingly called 'Corndog' was raised in Marlow, Okla. until 2016. He moved to Kingston and became a Redskin in 2021.
However, after a year in Marshall County, he moved toChoctawandbecameaYellow Jacket. He loved living in Choctaw where he spent 6th and 7th grade.
His mom said everybody loved him so much that he broke a few hearts in Choctaw. He even got his heart broken a few times.
He loved to skate and would go roller blading at Rollerland every week, as long as he stayed out of trouble. However, he was a typical teenager, so he stayed in trouble.
It didn't matter if he didn't have the money to go skating, he always found a way. He would tell his mom, 'It's ok, my friend is going to pay for me.'
His mom said he always found a way to get what he wanted. His determination is one of the things everyone loved about him.
He loved going out to eat, because it meant he didn't have to do the dishes. He loved putting ranch on everything he ate.
Like a typical big brother, he loved pestering his little brothers. He was proud of the fact that he stood taller than his older brothers and loved to rub it in. He would always welcome his older brothers with big hug, but made sure he stood straight up to hold his head high and remind them that he was taller.
He was a character that couldcharmanyonewhoever methim.Hestartedthe20242025 school year in Kingston with his dad. That is where he played his last season of football.
Even though he loved his dad and living so close to the lake, he missed his mom, Wyle and little brothers, as well. He wound up moving back with his mother and became an Elgin Owl.
His mom, Crystal, said he was loved by anyone and everyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him because he was 'definitely unforgettable.'
