As the new school year kicks off, Madill High School would like to take a moment to highlight Emma Edwards, a dedicated senior who has been a vibrant part of the Madill community since her pre-K days. Edwards, the daughter of Michelle and Jerry Edwards, has grown into a remarkable individual with big dreams and a strong support system.
With roots in the community,she said her grandparents, Judy and the late Jackie Nabors, have always cheered her on. As oneofsevenchildren—Chloe, Madison, Devin, Adrian, Frank and Evie—Edwards has learned the importance of family and teamwork, both on and off the field.
This year, she continues to shine as a member of the varsity cheer team, where she has created countless memories, particularly during those cherished bus rides with her closest friends. A lighthearted moment from her past involves asking Coach Speer if he was “born bald,” showcasing her playful spirit and sense of humor.
Looking to the future, Edwards said she has set her sights on a career in pediatric nursing and travel nursing, driven by her passion for helping others. She expressed deep gratitude to her coaches for their endless support,aswellastoMr.Norman, who has always shown her kindness.
Edwardssaidhermomhas been her rock, instilling in her the belief that failures do not define one’s future.
“You can become something great no matter the circumstance,” she reflected, a lesson that inspires her daily.
She also cited her competitive cheer coach, Ashton Adams, as a significant influence, praising her unwavering belief in Edwards’ abilities.
As the school year unfolds, Edwards said she is ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities, equipped with the lessons learned from her family, friends and mentors.
