Multiple wrecks in the area

Three auto accidents in the span of two days affected the Marshall County area. On February 6 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a fatality collision occurred on US 70F four miles south of Madill.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, a garbage truck, and a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox were both traveling northbound on US 70F. The garbage truck, driven by Christopher Antwine, a 43-year-old male from Ardmore was traveling without headlights or taillights.

The Equinox, driven by Billy Carter, a 57-year-old male of Tishomingo struck the rear of the truck. His passenger, Adam Monjay, a 36-year-old male from Tishomingo was partially ejected from the vehicle. Monjay was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 8, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a 2016 Ford F150 was traveling north on SH 70B one mile south of Kingston. The driver, Mitchell Grissith, a 45-year-old male from Kingston departed the roadways and struck a private driveway. He was ejected from the vehicle. The officers noted a strong odor of alcohol from Grissith. He was transported by Air Evac to Plano Medical Center with multiple injuries.

Also, on February 8 at approximately 9:00 p.m., a BNSF train and a 1995 GMC Jimmy collided in Ravia.

Joe L. Lyons, a 51-year-old male from Ravia was traveling west on SH 1 when he went ignored a Grade Crossing Signal and proceeded to go around the warning arms. The GMC was then struck by the train, conducted by Joe Pittman, a 34-yearold male from Connerville. Lyons was pinned for an undisclosed amount of time.

He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Tishomingo, then to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by AirEvac. He is in critical condition with multiple injuries.
