Weeks signs on for years of tradition

On November 11, 2020, Avri Weeks, a Kingston Lady Redskin, signed here letter of intent to join the women’s basketball program at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in the fall 2021 semester. As a future Savage Storm, she joins her brother RJ who will be a red-shirt freshman on the boy’s squad this season.

In fact, her family has quite a legacy there. Her grandfather Lonnie Weeks, a former Lady Redskin coach and her father, Lance Weeks, long time coach, both are SE grads. So, the Weeks name is well known on campus.

She will also join the Lady Redskins connection to Southeastern. Kathy Cotton, Marla Smith, Shannon Shipp, and Connie Beardon all were former players at SE.

Weeks will start her senior season at KHS early next month. Weeks has experienced quite a career, so far, earning many accolades. The state tournament finals her freshman year, was injured in the first game of the state tournament her sophomore year and was one game away from state her junior year. This year, she would love to add that third year at the state tournament.

Weeks said she is anxious to play and reach all of her personal goals.

“Last season being injured , it felt like I missed out my whole junior year,” she said. “I am so anxious to get back out there this season and play.”

Avri has the support of her mom Mindi Weeks. She is never far away as she is the score keeper for both the Lady Redskins and the Redskins. Her younger sister, Dylan is usually around the bench as well. The Weeks family legacy rolls on. Good luck on your senior season, Avri Weeks.
