MC couple celebrate 50 years

Crockett and Cheryl Uber ofKIngstonrecentlycelebrated their Golden Anniversary with a surprise reception at the First Baptist Church in Kingston. The event was hosted by the couple's two sons and daughters-in-law.

Crockett Dean Uber of Atoka married Cheryl Ann Armstrong on August 31, 1974 at the bride's home in Kingston.Theyweremarried by Rev. John Dennis. The Ubers have made their home in Kingston ever since.

Crockett is the son of WandaUberofAtokaadnthe late Harley Uber. Cheryl is the daughter of the late Lee Roy and the late Millie Jo Armstrong of Kingston.

Crockett and Cheryl met as sophomores at Southeastern State College in Durant. They had a bowling class together.Shecalledhim'boy' and he called her 'girl'.

Crockett is retired from Michelin in Ardmore with 37 years experience. Cheryl is a retired school teacher with the Kingston Public School district, serving 34 years.

The joys of their lives are their two sons and their families: Kyle Wayne Uber and wife Kari of Denison, Texas and Joel Lee Uber and wife Julie of Edmond, Okla.

Kyle is the Human Resources Director at Denison ISD. Kari is a middle school librarian at Denison. Their two children are Nate Isaac Uber, a recent graduate of Texas A&M and Anna Beth Uber, a recent graduate of Denison High School.

Joel, son number two, is a graphic design artist for Chesapeake Oil Company in OKC. Julie is a homemaker. Their two young sons are Wyatt Roy Uber and Baker Lee Uber, both are students at Crossing Christian School in OKC.
