Another candidate running for Madill City Council is Greg Lowe. Lowe was born and raised in Madill. His family, including his children and parents, also grew up in Madill.
Lowe and his father have owned and operated Lowe’s Furniture and Carpet in the square for over five decades. Lowe’s father started the business 57 years ago and the family still runs it.
Lowe and his wife both attended Madill Public School, same with his children. He said he wouldn’t want to trade places with anyone else, or be anywhere else, but Madill.
Lowe noted that his love of the community comes from the people. Due to working and running the neighborhood furniture store, he said he has been in most of the homes within the town.
He also said that people show their trust in him by allowing them to work inside, even when they are gone.
Lowe said his motivation to run for city council stems from the desire to help with other’s needs. He was raised by the community and said he feels shaped by that.
Lowe’s father served on the city council for twenty years. Due to that, he said he understands the dedication it takes to be a proper council person.
Not only does Lowe want to be a second-generation council member, he said he currently sits on two county boards to show his eagerness to serve. He has been on the Board of Adjustments and the Marshall County Historical Museum Board for over four years.
A few of the concerns that many residents voice is transparency from the city and communication from the council members. Lowe said that his number will be public, and he will be available for any citizen’s concern. No matter the issue, whether it’s water drainage, sewage or just a citizen's complaint, Lowe said he feels he can help with any issue, if everyone works together. He said he wants to be a voice for the people.
