Wildcats notch big district baseball triumphs

Madill High School’s baseball teamputtogetheritsbest offensive performances of the season last week with a pair ofdominantdistrictwinsover Oklahoma City Douglass.

The Wildcats rolled to 12-0 and 11-2 victories over the Trojans before wrapping up the week with an 8-3 loss to Tishomingo.

In the Douglass opener, Madill got off to a flying start with five runs in the opening stanza and never looked back fromtherewhileaddingthree more in the second frame and four in the third.

CooperMcHattondoubled and rode home on a Mikal Pruitt single to get the Wildcats on the board. Brayden Jowers and Tyner Roberts also contributed RBI hits. Tucker Neeley drove in the first tally in the following frame with Pruitt tossing in another run-scoring hit.

The Wildcats ended it on the run rule in the third inning thanks to a run-scoring hit from Daquan Willams as well a game-ending two-run hit from Pruitt.

McHatton was the pitching benefactor as he hurled a no-hitter that included four strikeouts and one walk.

Madill made the most of eight hits offensively fueled by Pruitt’s three for three effort that included four runs batted in and two scored. McHatton, Jowers, Roberts, Williams and Neeley all had one hit.

Jowersnotchedthemound win in the nightcap, yielding two runs on no hits, struck out two and walked six.

James Valadez led the charge with two hits, including a triple. McHatton added a hit and two RBI. Kris Grimaldo, Jowers and Roberts each posted a hit.

Tishomingo scored three times to build an early lead over the Wildcats in the week’s finale and Madill was unable to rally despite two hits apiece from Pruitt and Grimaldo.
