Wildcat thinclads continue prepping for home regional

The Madill High School track and field teams continued prepping for the Class 4A regional track meet, which they will host on May 3, with more strong efforts in the Durant Invitational Meet last week.

Coach Cale Eidson’s group had just one gold medalist against the tough field and unsurprisingly that came from junior Yadira Barbosa, who won the girls’ 3,200 meters withatimeof11minutes, 52.54 seconds.

The Lady Wildcat catalyst also secured a second place mark of 5:34.17 in the 1,600 meters along with a third place time of 2:34.01 in the 800 meters.

Madill dominated most of the placings in the girls’ 100-meter dash as Zeplyn Thomas clocked in second at 13.27 seconds, Joshlynn Clayburn was fourth at 13.48 and Hadon Stuckey wrapped up sixth in 13.61.

In the 200 meters, Clayburn notched a mark of 28.51 seconds for fifth with teammate Nene Stumblingbear taking sixth at 28.73.

Relays were once again a Lady Wildcat strength as they checked in third in the 4x100 relay at 52.85 seconds. In the 800 relay they were fourth in 1:53.02 and the “B” unit actually claimed fourth in the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:28.21.

Madill posted four field event placers led by a fourth by Hadon Stuckey in the pole vault at eight feet even. Anglena Mendiola took sixth in the discus at 89 feet, 7 inches, Stumblingbear checked in sixth in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches while Luci Douglas contributed a sixth in the long jump as well with a leap of 14 feet, 8 inches.

The Wildcats had several of their better performances of the season on the boys side with a total of 10 individual placers to go along with a third place mark by the 1,600-meter relay unit that finished in 3:33.70.

Gilberto Grimaldo was a dual placer as he claimed third in the discus at 127 feet, 10 inches as well as ending sixth in the shot put with a heave of 37 feet, 4 ¼ inches.

Jose Campos produced a third place in the 1,600 meter in 4:37.91 and Triston Barnes was also third in the pole vault at 12 feet even. Fourth place finishes belonged to Ryder Douglasinthe800meters at 2:04.15 along with Aroddy Camacho in the discus at 123 feet, 11 inches.

Madill had a pair of 200-meterplacerswithJaxon Diaz adding a fifth at 23.91 seconds and Jose Menchaca, who was sixth in 24.28. Canyon Phillips ran to a sixth place effort in the 3,200 meters at 12:31.66 as Jagger Rogers also cashed in sixth in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches.
