Securing a home regional berth, the Kingston fastpitch softball squad rode dominant pitching to four triumphs in four outings.
The Lady Redskins scored 7-2 and 5-0 victories against District 3A-8 foes Antlers and Atoka ahead of a pair of wins in the Healdton Festival as they knocked off Healdton (7-1) and Dickson (8-1) while improvingtheirrecordto21-8 for the season.
Coach Aaron Minor’s squad is slated to travel to Madill on Thursday before taking on Newcastle and Bridge Creek in the Chickasha Festival on Friday.
KannaStroudhadjustone hit but drove in four runs, including the go-ahead RBI in the third inning to break a 1-1 deadlock with Antlers. Kate Ratzlaff and Hall accounted for three hits and one run batted in each with Emma Bridgeman adding a triple and single.
Stroud also went the distance in the pitching circle, scattering seven hits while striking out eight.
It took awhile for the Lady Redskins to get the bats going against Atoka, going hitless until the fifth stanza, but Gracie Bridgman was up to the task as she fired a threehit complete game shutout with eight strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Dextry Bowerman tallied two hits, including a double, with Ava Bain and Destry Davis also tossing in doubles.
ThecombinationofStroud and Madi Hammond did the pitching damage against Healdton as they yielded five hits, fanned two and walked one over five solid innings.
Kingston’s offense scored in each of the first three stanzas and never looked back, spurred by Davis’ homer, double and two runs batted in. Hammond and Bain also notched three hits each with Ratzlaff pitching in a pair.
In the Dickson contest, the Lady Redskins jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back. Hall and Bridgman teamed up on the pitching rubber, scattering three hits and one unearned, to lead the charge.
The Lady Redskins made the most of eight singles whilepostingsixstolenbases. Hammond contributed two hits and two RBI with Davis adding a pair of hits and driving in one.
