Kingston cross country runners keep finding their stride

Kingston Cross Country Runners Keep Finding Their Stride The Kingston junior high and high school cross country teams have reached the halfway point of their season, and the Redskins continue to show steady improvement witheachmeet.Kingstonrunners have been going all in at competition, pushingthrough challenging courses and continuing to lower their times as the season progresses.

At Lindsay, the teams had to deal with rain and wet conditions but the weather did little to slow the Redskins. Even with the added challenge, Kingston runners continued to compete hard and find ways to improve.

For a team that continues to get faster, the message could almost be, “come on now, follow my lead. I may be crazy, don't mind me.”

The Redskins have been following that lead all season, putting in the work and challenging one another to keep moving forward.

The high school boys recently earned a week away from competition, giving them an opportunity to rest, recover and prepare for the next big push of the season. The junior high runners, meanwhile, traveled to Lane to keep competing.

For the Kingston boys, the biggest story has been the steady drop-in times. Everett Eason has made one of the most noticeable improvements, shaving a full minute off his times during the season.

That kind of progress is a reflection of the work being put in during practices and the experience gained with every race.

Eighth-grader Dayton Keesey has also added another spark to the junior high team. Keesey recently began training with the team and has already been turning in some impressive times. With Keesey joining the group and other runners continuing to improve, the junior high team is building momentum at an important point in the season.

Cross country improvement is often measured in seconds, but for Kingston those seconds are beginning to add up. Each race gives the runners another opportunity to learn the course, test their endurance and see what they can accomplish.

Now at the midpoint of the season, the Redskins have plenty of work and racing still ahead. The high school boys will use their week off to rest their legs and get ready for the next stretch of competition, while the junior high runners continue to gain experience and confidence.

The second half of the season will bring new challenges but if the first half is any indication, Kingston's runners are entering it with faster times, more experience and plenty of determination.
