Madill tallies conference wrestling placers

A busy weekend at the Midwestern Conference Tournament at Firelake Arena in Shawnee resulted in several individual placers for Madill wrestling teams.

The Wildcat junior high boys squad also took seventh as a team in the 23-team conference field.

In the high school boys’ division, Triston Barnes reached the tournament semifinals in the 113-pound class before settling for fourth place. Christian Robledo dropped a quarterfinal matchup at 150 pounds but rebounded with a pair of wins to claim fifth.

Madill tallied four placers in the girls’ high school category spurred by Madelyn Ritchie, who advanced all the way to the finals at 190 pounds before settling for runner-up honors.

Also competing at 190, Morgan Walls took fourth after also reaching the championship semifinals. Madison Barrow claimed fifth place at 235poundswhileKaiaHenry checked in fifth as well at 135 pounds.

The Wildcat junior high boys ended with seven individual placers in the conference event, topped by a runner-up showing by Canyon Phillips at 80 pounds.

Jackson Harper took fourth place at 132 pounds with Tyner Roberts and Aaron Rodriguez claiming fifth place honors at 170 and 195 pounds respectively. A trio of Madill grapplers also checked in sixth with Saul Martinez at 92 pounds, BraydenVallesat119pounds and Coltyn McQueary in the 112-pound division.

In junior high girls action, KaydenceBourlandcaptured a third place medal at 145 pounds with Yatziri Flores also ending third at 165 pounds.
