Late rally gives Lady Wildcats district title

Madill rallied with the game’s final eight points to knock off Ada, 35-32, and claim the Class 4A district championship on the road.

The Wildcats weren’t quite as fortunate against the ninth-ranked Cougars, dropping a 75-35 verdict.

Both teams stay alive into regional tournament action this week at McLoud with the Madill boys attempting to stave o' elimination by winning three straight contests. The girls meanwhile will look to extend an 11-game victory streak.

Girls The Lady Wildcats only made one three pointer the entire contest, but it proved to be a big one as Lamiyah Brown’s trey tied the contest at 32 in the !nal two minutes.

Ada led almost the entire first three stanzas, going up 11-8 through one quarter before taking a 19-15 advantage to the half. It was 30-25 Lady Cougars through three frames.

Madill appeared on the brink of falling into the playo ' loser’s bracket trailing 3227 with 2:45 remaining but would not fold as Brown came through down the stretch by scoring or assisting on every Lady Wildcat point in the session. She tallied the final six points of the game and wrapped up with a game-high 21 points for the night.

Chloe Miller contributed eight with Arlette Andrade, Jade Soto and Allyson Coles each posting two points for Madill, which improved to 17-5 on the season.

Boys It was a great start for the Wildcats as they held an 11-9 edge after one period thanks to five first quarter points from Jagger Rogers along with three apiece by Ryan Anderson and Jaxon Diaz.

Things went south for Madill after that as Ada exploded for at least 20 points in each of the next three stanzas. The Cougars grabbed a 33-18 edge at halftime and extended the margin to 55-26 through three periods.

Rogers was the only Wildcat to reach double figures, tallying 13 for the contest. Christian Smith notched eight, Anderson had seven with Diaz and Cash Cooper tossing in three each. Brayden Jowers also pitched in two points.
