Langford’s pv title leads Kingston to 3rd in state

Sophomore Alyssa Langford claimed the pole vault state championship to highlight Kingston performances at the Class 3A State Track and Field Meet last week.

Langford’s 10 foot, 6 inch leap over the bar helped spur the Lady Redskins to a third place team finish with 65 points, wrapping up only behind Washington and Chisholm in the final standings.

Freshman Kate Ratzlaff contributed a pair of state runner-up efforts in the hurdles, notching a time of 47.29 in the 300 hurdles and 15.89 in the 100 hurdles.

Ava Russell crossed the tap in fifth place in the 200 meters at 25.99 while Daisy Avery added a sixth place effort in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:07.82.

Kingston’s girls also had scoring placing in three of the four relay events they participated, topped by a third place showing in the 1,600 event as Ratzlaff, Coby Davis, Kenley Hallum and Russell teamed for a time of 4:03.72.

The sprint relay (400 meters) unit of Ratzlaff, Cassidy Walker, Davis and Russell clocked in at 50.42 second for fifth while the grouping of Hallum, Davis, Olivia McAlister and Russell was also fifth in 1:45.39.

The girls team wee also the Class 3A State Academic Champions.

Ontheboys’side,Kingston claimed seventh in the team standings with 43 points as private school power Rejoice Christiancapturedthechampionship.

Senior Cash Walker led the charge with state runner-up performances in the hurdles as he posted a time of 14.63 in the 110 high hurdles and also ran a 38.84 in the 300 hurdles with teammate CoyAnderonplacingseventh at 41.81.

Sam Walker notched another state runner-up time of 50.03 in the 400 meters and was fourth in the high jump with a top leap of 6 feet, 6 inches. Logan Stephens added a seventh in the 100 meters, clocking in at 11.20 seconds.

The Redskins’ 800-meter relay foursome of Stephens, Sam Walker, Hudson Everhart andCashWalkerposted a seventh place finish of 1:32.61.
