Courthouses are typically where police go to either transport an inmate for court, or to show up for court themselves. Very rarely is it the place that emergency personnel are called to. On July 22, Marshall County emergency personnel and first responders were dispatched to the Marshall County Courthouse.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., an inmate, Zachary Magness was being escorted back to the Marshall County Jail after being sentenced to 15 years for Second-Degree Rape. Apparently, Magness was overcome by everything going on, and had an episode.

Initially, it was called in that he jumped from the second floor landing. However, once first responders arrived, Magness had not jumped; he had an episode. According to family members, he had a seizure.

Fortunately, Magness merely slid to the floor, and was not hurt. He has been booked into the Marshall County Jail to begin at least four years of his 15-year sentence.
