Lady Redskins meet Sante Fe

If you are wondering where Santa Fe South is, you are just like me. Google reports that it is a Charter, public school district of some seven schools and 3500 students. The high school itself has 1040 students in ninth through twelfth grades. The Lady Redskins prevailed with the final score of 64 to 32. I believe this was the first meeting ever for the Lady Redskins and Santa Fe South.

The first quarter looked like a coming out party for sophomore Emily Bellettini. At 5’9”, she is close to the tallest player on the team. It has fallen to her to take the post position on both ends of the court. Most of her playing experience has been at the guard position. She has been playing very well in this role. Today, it all seemed to come together for her. She had four inside buckets and was 2 of 4 from the line. Olivia Quapaw had a bucket and Ethel Stewart had a free throw. After one, it was 13 to 9, advantage Lady Redskins.

Second quarter action, Bellettini added another field goal and was 2 of 2 from the line. Kamry Bohannon got busy with a bucket and three free throws. Quapaw had a bucket as did Kaya Wiebener. The score at the half was 24 to 18.

In the third, Quapaw had a three pointer. Reagan Davis had two field goals. Lanie French had a nice effort with three field goals. Stewart had a field goal, and Bellettini had a bucket and two free throws. The Lady Redskins were building a cushion with the score now at 42 to 23.

The final quarter had everyone pitching in. It went like this, Bohannon with a three and a two-point field goal and 1 of 2 from the line. Bellettini had two field goals. French had 2 field goals. Wiebener had a pretty threepointer. Quapaw and Stewart each had field goals. Jaci Herndon had a free throw. Final score, 64 to 32.

Box score: Bellettini lead all scorers with 21 points. Bohannon had 11 followed by French with 10. Quapaw was up next with nine, Stewart and Wiebener had five each. Herndon had one. As a team, from the free throw line, 11 of 20 for 55 %.
