Kingston hosted the Lone Grove Lady Longhorns on Tuesday,September5.While the Lady Redskins had high hopes of a home victory, they were unable to keep up with Lone Grove’s bats after earning eight runs in the first inning, falling 13 to 1. Kingston freshman Khloe Hall went 2 for 2 at the plate and senior Jayda Foster went 1 for 2, together leading the team and scoring one run.
Although sophomore Amberly Hallum took the loss for the Lady Redskins, she came in as relief and pitched four quality innings, giving up five runs; three, of which, camefromLoneGrove’sBrice Wade when she homered to right-center. The Lady Longhorns kept Kingston freshman Ava Bain busy, tallying six putouts. Hallum saideventhoughtheoutcome wasn’t in their favor, she was unbelievably proud of her defense all around.
The Lady Redskins traveled to Marietta on Thursday, September 7, where they steamrolled the Lady Indians with Hall capturing the win for Kingston, 18 to 4. The Lady Redskins were the first on the board when Hall singled on an error; Sydney Navarrett drew a walk; and Bailey Reagan and Jayda Foster were hit by pitch, with all four girls each scoring one run. Kingston piled up 13 hits overall with Hall, Bain, AlyssaLangford,andHallum each collecting multiple hits, and Foster leading the team in stolen bases.
The collective efforts as a team allowed the Lady Redskins to sweep the Marietta Lady Indians in district play.
