After the two-point loss at the hands ofthe Ada Cougars, Coach Taylor Wiebener was ready to get back on the court. His team did not need extra motivation to take on the Madill Wildcats during the December 7 game. Redskins prevailed 51 to 32.
Just seconds into the first quarter, the refs whistled a double foul on the big men for both teams. It appeared they were not going to allow a physical inside game. Both teams were trading baskets for most of the quarter. At the 3:13 mark, Madill held a one-point advantage at 7 to 6. The Redskins clawed back to lead 11 to 10 at the end of the first. Brady Brister got off to a quick start with five points. Dakota Wiebener had four. Cole Morgan and Jahiem Nash each had free throws.
In the second, every basket was contested. Wiebner had a three and Nash a two-point field goal. Braden Matchen and Gage Gill each were 2 of 2 from the line. The Redskins held the Wildcats to a four point total. At the half, Redskins ledd, 20 to 14.
Reid Cason who had sat with early foul trouble began to make his presence felt. He had two buckets and had a couple ofblocks. Matchen had two field goals and was 2 of 2 from the line. Morgan added two free throws. Redskins held on to the lead, 32 to 23.
In the fourth, Redskins put together their best offensive effort of the night. Wiebener had a three and a two-point goal. Matchen again had two field goals. Morgan improved he team free throw percentage by going 6 to 6. This totaled a nineteen-point quarter. Redskins won, 51 to 32.
Box score: Wiebener and Matchen led the team with 12 points each. They were followed by Cason with eight and Morgan with nine. Brister had five, Nash three, and Gill with two. The team from the charity stripe, 19 of 24 for 79%. As mentioned above, Morgan finished 9 of 10 from the line.
