Lady Redskins VS Byng Lady Pirates

The # 8 (3A) ranked Lady Redskins stormed the court and won against the Byng Lady Pirates. The final score for the January 27 game was 60 to 37.

The last few games the Lady Redskins have gotten off to fast starts and this game was no exception. Olivia Quapaw was hot. She had three field goals and a three pointer. Jaci Herndon had a three. Emily Bellettini had two buckets and Kamry Bohannon had a bucket. That’s good for an 18 to 9 first quarter.

It is easy to overlook the defense when the shots are falling on the offensive end of the court. The Lady Pirates were struggling and the Lady Redskins just refused to let them get into any kind of offensive rhythm. Meanwhile, the scoring from the first quarter kept coming.

Herndon had seven points by herself including a three pointer. Ethel Stewart had two buckets and a free throw. Laney French got open on a long pass from Quapaw and hit a three. Bohannon had a bucket. The Lady Pirates were held scoreless in this quarter. The score at the half had the Lady Redskins in control, 36 to 9.

For the third quarter, Quapaw had two three pointers. Stewart again was good underneath. She had a bucket. Kaya Wiebener took a hard shot to the nose on a three-point attempt. She went to the deck but recovered to go to the line and hit three free throws. The score was 47 to 24.

In the fourth quarter, the three-point shots were still coming. French, again, had one as did Bohannon. Bellettini was good for five points in the quarter, Stewart again had two, the Lady Redskins won. The final score was 60 to 37.

Boxscore:Quapawhad15, Bellettini was next with 12. Herndon had 10 and Stewart and Bohannon each had seven. French had six and Wiebener with three.

Lady Redskins vs Plainview Lady Indians

On January 28, it was a rare Saturday afternoon set of games for the Lady Redskins. The game should have been played at Plainview but was moved to Kingston due to water damage to their court. The Lady Redskins won 52 to 36.

It was a pretty competitive first quarter. The Lady Redskins were moving the ball well and finding the open girl. Emily Bellettini was off to a good start with two inside buckets and was 1 of 2 from the line. The Lady Indians had no answer to her inside post moves.

The defense was trying to collapse on Bellettini and this left Ethel Stewart wide open on the opposite side for an easy bucket. Kamry Bohannon had a free throw. The icing on the cake was a high arcing three pointer from Qlivia Quapaw and the quarter ended with the Lady Redskins in control, 11 to 6.

With 3:00 left in the second quarter, the lead had extended to 23 to 11. This happened because Quapaw had another three pointer. Bohannon got busy with two buckets and was 1 of 2 from the line. Bellettini was good for six inside points. At the half, the lead was 25 to 13.

The third quarter started off with a Bellettini steal and she converted it to a bucket. That was pretty much where the Lady Indians lost any hope of a comeback. Quapaw for three, she added two more free throws.

Stewart just like the first quarterwaswideopenunderneath and converted. Laney French hit a three pointer. Bohannon hit a three. Bellettini ran off three buckets underneath and had a free throw.

Kaya Wiebener had a free throw. Plainview managed to get a double figure output for the first time all night. They had a 10-point effort. However, the Lady Redskins had 11 and led, 46 to 23. The fourth went quickly. Quapaw, Stewart and Bellettini all had buckets. The final score was 52 to 36.

Box score: Bellettini led the team with 20 points. Next was Quapaw who had 13. Bohannon had nine, Stewart with six, French with three and Wiebener had one. As a team, they were 7 of 11 from the line
