The Lady Redskins and Coach Chad Rumer were on the road this week for a Lake Country Conference match up at Marietta. The Lady Redskins won this one wire to wire. The final score was 48 to 28. he first quarter was not pretty in fact, it was sloppy. Too many turnovers and mistakes, but the Lady Indians were unable to really capitalize because of their own,turnoversandmistakes.
Everyonewasgettinginon the scoring. Olivia Quapaw, Lanie French and Kamry Bohannon all had three pointers. Emily Bellettini and Jaci Herndon both had buckets. Bohannon also picked up her second foul and went to the bench. The score after one quarter, 13 to 5.
Pretty early in the second quarter, Bohannon got that thirdfoulandwasinforalong stint on the bench. Quapaw kept the heat on the offensive end with two buckets, she missed both her free throw attempts. Ethel Stewart was open underneath and had a bucket. Bellettini and Herndoneachwere1of2from the line. The score at the half was 21 to 13, in favor of the Lady Redskins.
In the third quarter, Quapaw had two buckets and again missed both free throw attempts. French had another three pointer. Bellettini had a nice quarter with three field goals and was 2 of 3 from the line. Stewart was again open underneath and hit her shot. After three quarters, the Lady Redskins led, 38 to 21.
In the fourth quarter, a well rested Bohannon went to work. She got to the line and was 1 of 2. Next, she hit a three pointer. A little later, she again got to the line and hit both free throws. She finished up with another field goal.
Stewart again had a bucket. Rumer emptied the benchandtheLadyRedskins had another Lake Country win. The final score was 48 to 28.
Box score: Bellettini lead the team with 13 points, Quapaw and Bohannon each had 11. Stewart and French each had six points. Herndon had three points.
Lady Redskins v Lady Longhorns
The Lady Redskins and Coach Chad Rumer kept their winning momentum going with a Lake Country ConferencewinovertheLady Longhorns at the KMAC on January 13. The 8th ranked Lady Redskins won, 55 to 28.
In the first quarter, the Lady Redskins came out and established the tempo that they wanted to play. That always starts on the defensive side of the game. This game was no different.
Emily Bellettini got off to a hot start with two buckets and was perfect from the line with2freethrows.Atthe6:29 mark, Lanie French came up hobbling on her ankle. She wasreplacedbyJaciHerndon who had two buckets.
Kamry Bohannon had a bucket and Olivia Quapaw was 2 for 2 from the line. The Ladies held a four point lead, 14 to 10, after one quarter.
The second quarter saw the Lady Redskins turn up the pressure on defense and theyheldtheLadyLonghorns to a four -oint total. This was ateameffortbutasthepasses over the middle began to be desperation heaves, Ethel Stewart and Bohannon were there to slap them away.
Lone Grove just could not get a chance to run their offense. Bellettini had two more buckets and Herndon had two nice three pointers. Quapaw, after hitting a runner in the lane, got the crowd up with a long-range swish for a three pointer at the buzzer. The Lady Redskins were on top, 28 to 14.
Bellettini outscored the Lady Longhorns herself in the third. She had three field goals and was 3 of 5 from the line. Stewart, Quapaw and Bohannon, all had buckets as the constant pressure was getting to the Lady Longhorns. The margin was now, 20, 44 to 24.
In the fourth quarter, Bellettini had a three and a two-point field goal. Just like in the third, Quapaw, Bohannon and Stewart all had buckets. The final score, Lady Redskins 55, Lone Grove 28.
Box score: Bellettini lead the team with 24 points. She was 5 of 7 from the line. She also had countless rebounds. Quapaw was next with 11. Herndon had 10, Bohannon with six, Stewart had four points.
