First, we are grateful to our judge, Dr. Bob Palmer, for his time and expertise in selecting the winners for this year’s show. He is known for his huge murals in the Oklahoma City area including those at Will Rogers World Airport, the State Capitol and the Bass Pro Shop. His murals are typically historically based to tell a story. It is estimated he has over 1800 murals in Oklahoma, Canada, Mexico and Eastern Europe. As an accomplished artist, he received awards such as “Oklahoma Art Educator of the Year” in 2007 and was chosen as the state’s Feature Mural Painter, which resulted in commissions to paint murals at Bricktown and the State Capitol.
The Madill Art Club is proud to announce the winner of the 2019 Best of Show awarded to Ms. Sunkyung Choi for her oil painting of Sunflowers.
The other coveted award is the People’s Choice award. Each person who attended the Art Show was encouraged to vote for his or her favorite art piece in the show. The winning artist is announced on the last day of the Art Show. This year’s People’s Choice Award was won by Sara Gillstrap for her oil painting called “Stage Coach Driver.”
The Madill Art Club members especially want to thank our loyal Guaranteed Purchasers who always turn out to support our show with their purchases.
We also thank the many talented artists for entering our show and trusting us with their valuable works of art.
We tried something new this year. We enlisted the help of many young members of the local FFA to assist us with the set up and break down of our show. Their work loading and unloading our grid panels saved us a lot of energy. We appreciate them very much and look forward to their help next year.
Finally, we thank Marshall County for providing us this facility to hold our art shows. It is with great pride that we hold our annual shows in this bright, clean, beautiful facility.
Now, with enthusiasm, the Madill Art Club members proceed with planning next year’s 59th Art Show at the Expo to be held at the same place, same time and on the same weekend… the third weekend in October … so SAVE the DATE and join us in 2020.
