Forguitarenthusiastsand classic rock fans, few places in North Texas hold the reputation of The Guitar Sanctuary. Nestled in the picturesque Adriatica Village in McKinney, the music destination has become much more than a guitar store.
It has evolved into a gathering place where musicians, collectors and fans come together to celebrate the culture and history of music. Founded by owner George Fuller, The Guitar Sanctuary built its reputation by specializing in high-end guitars, basses, amplifiers and accessories, carrying instruments from some of the most respected builders in the world.
Over the years, the venue has expanded to include The Sanctuary Music & Events Center, hosting concerts, artist appearances, clinics and special events that attract music lovers from across Texas and beyond. That tradition continuedonThursday,June 25,whenthevenuewelcomed legendary rock broadcaster and author Eddie Trunk for a special evening of stories and questions and answers.
Trunk, a more than 40year veteran of the music industry, is widely known for his work on SiriusXM’s Faction Talk channel and as co-host of the popular VH1 Classic program That Metal Show.Throughouthiscareer, he has interviewed some of the biggest names in hard rock and heavy metal while earning a reputation as one of the genre’s most respected voices. He has also been the host of Rocklahoma multiple times.
During the McKinney appearance, Trunk entertained the audience with behind-the-scenes stories from decades spent in radio and television, sharing personal experiences with rock legends and taking questions from attendees during an interactive Q&A session. Fans also got to hear the behind-the-scenes creation of the crowd-favorite “Stump the Trunk” in which fans get to test the broadcaster’s extensive knowledge of rock history.
There was a story telling segment based on a surprise photo array, and the AI moment of the night, Trunk as a huge NY Giants fan was pictured wearing a Dallas Cowboys Jersey, with both cheers and laughter from the audience. Adding to the evening’s atmosphere was complimentary in-house refreshment provided by TUPPS Brewery.
TheMcKinney-basedcraft brewery sponsored the event by offering free beer to ticket holders age 21 and older, giving guests a chance to enjoy local brews while soaking in stories from one of rock’s most recognizable personalities.
The event also carried an important charitable component. Representatives from Breast Cancer Can Stick It were on hand with an informational booth highlighting their mission and promoting theirupcomingDrummathon 2026 event.
Breast Cancer Can Stick It is a Texas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by breast cancer. The group works to provide financial assistance, education and community support while also raising awareness through events and outreach programs. Their signature “Drummathon” fundraiser brings together musicians and supporters to raise money for those battling the disease, combining a love of music with a mission of hope and healing.
TheGuitarSanctuaryand The Love Life Foundation are among the supporters of the organization’s efforts. For one evening, The Guitar Sanctuary once again proved why it has become one of North Texas’ premier music destinations, bringing together rock history, local flavor and community service under one roof, all while reminding attendees that music has the power not only to entertain but also to inspire and give back.
