The Madill Public Schools Board of Education held their monthly meeting on May 11. Plans for the new elementary school continue to move forward, with the design phase nearing completion and construction bids expected later this summer.
District officials met with architects on June 9 and that the design phase of the project is approximately 90 percent complete. Salcedo said the district is also working through student drop-off and pick-up logistics at Early Childhood Center to help ensure a smooth transition during the construction process.
Salcedo also shared results from a recent gifted and talented survey which showed strong community support for the program and growth in recent years. According to the report, survey results align with the district’s strategic plan and school officials plan to expand gifted and talented opportunities at both the middle school and high school levels. Graduation ceremonies were scheduled for later that week at the Madill Event Center.
In other business, the board approved revisions to the 2026-27 school calendar and authorized an out-ofstate trip for athletic trainers to attend the TCU-SMU Athletic Training Workshop in Fort Worth. Members also approved authorized representatives for the Marshall County Educational Facility Authority bond series.
Theboardapprovedseveral contracts and agreements for the upcoming school year, including memberships and services through OSSBA. OPSRC, ParentSquare, SyllogisTEd and other educational support organizations. Members also approved the memorandumofunderstanding with help HealthCorps for the upcoming school year.
Gracie Britton was appointed activity fund clerk for the remainder of the fiscal year 2026 and approved her as an authorized signer on the district's activity fund checking account. The board declared 134 black student chairs as surplus property and authorized their disposal according to the district procedures.
Several personal matters were approved during the meeting. The board accepted the resignation of Sasha Hayes. Members also approved the employment of Mikell Owens, Michelle Cleland, Olivia Carmona, Rae Ann Cook and Karen Boone as certified personnel for the 2026-27 school year. Amanda Blue was removed from consideration after accepting another position.
Board members approved Kendal Hasty as middle school assistant principal for the 2026-27 school year.
With no further business to consider, the board adjourned at 6:22 p.m. All actions taken during the meeting were approved unanimously.
