Girls

After a near miss a week earlier, the Lady Wildcats finally broke through for the elusive victory in their biggest offensive production of the season.

Madill got off to a great start with the opening goal in the first minute of the contest when Anayah Sage fed Julia Santillan, whopoweredhome a shot from roughly 25 yards out on the left side.

The Lady Wildcats kept the pressure on from there with Itzel Trevino and Hadon Stuckey controlling possession but Ardmore snuck in a tying goal after a Madill penalty. They got that goal back quickly with Trevino booting in a slicing shot from the right side off an assist by Isabel Stuckey.

That seemed to open the floodgates with Madill confidence with three more goals to close the half, including another by Trevino and the first career goal by freshman Uriana Rivera with one minute remaining in the half.

Sage got in on the scoring early in the second half with a blast into the bottom right corner of the net as Santillan returned the favor with an assist. Ardmore notched the final goal of the contest with 10 minutes remaining.

“Overallwearehappywith the result but definitely could have played better,” head coach Nathan Fitch said. “Sage worked hard up top and was rewarded with her goal. Jayleen Vasquez had a great game at outside back andcaptainZamirahMataas always ran us in the middle of the park.

“The last three games we have made some tremendous improvement. Hopefully we canbuildonthisandcontinue to get better as a group for the final stretch of the season. I feel like we can compete with anyone if we play our game.”

Boys

The Wildcats dominated possession more than 57 percent of the game, including 11 shots for the contest.

Adrian Gomez scored in the 10th minute of the first half but it was Alexander Orta’s blast into the back of the net with 13 minutes left in the game that proved to be the game winner.

With the victory they improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in District 4A-1 and alone in the all-important fourth place. Friday’s Cache contest will be crucial in staying in that position.
