Following a pair of District 3A-5 victories early in the week, the Kingston Redskins baseball team found the going difficult in dropping a pair of verdicts in their own tournament.
Coach Darron Henson’s squad blasted Tishomingo 14-4 and 13-0 for a two-game sweep but came up on the short end of a 5-4 decision to Lindsay and 7-2 against Sulphur in tournament action.
TheRedskinshaveaweek off from league play this week but will participate in the McAlester Festival this weekend.
Kingston’s offense was red-hot in the initial win over Tishomingo as they scored at least once in all six innings which they hit, fueled by a four-hit day from Brock Rumer. They plated one in the first, three in the second, two in the third, four in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to end it on the run rule.
Blane Henry was the beneficiary of the offensive support in posting the pitching victory. He allowed four runs on four hits, struck out nine and walked four over five innings for the pitching triumph. Rumer struck out all three hitters he faced in one frame of relief work.
Reid Patterson had a big day as well at the plate, contributing three hits, one RBIandthreerunsscored.Ty Jones had two hits, including a triple, and Ewan Weaver also added two hits.
Hayden Seeney led the charge, both at the plate and on the mound, in the second Tishomingo meeting. He fired three no-hit innings and fannedsixaswellaspumping three hits (two of which went for doubles) and a whopping five runs batted in.
The Redskins racked up 13 more hits as a team with Henry posting three in addition to two hits from Rumer, Lander Burkhalter and Slyder Hill. One of Burkhalter’s went for a triple and he also tossed in two frames of scoreless two-hit relief on the mound.
Henson’s club held a 4-3 lead through five innings against Lindsay but watched the Leopards rally with two runs for the win.
Seeney and Patterson each contributed a double and drove in a run as part of their two hits apiece.
They put together eight hits in the Sulphur contest butcouldn’tmakeupanearly 6-0 deficit after two stanzas.
Rumer, Burkhalter and Patterson finished with two hits each to lead the offense.
