In a pair of 6-1 soccer verdicts last week one went Madill’swayandonedidn’tas they split contest with Bridge Creek on the pitch.
The Lady Wildcats struggled against the wind early on and dug themselves too much of a hole to dig out of in the opening loss.
Madill’s boys however responded with the victory, shaking off a sluggish start before dispatching the Bobcats.
The girls resume action on Tuesday against district power Mount St. Mary but the boys won’t be back in play until March 31 facing Harrah.

Early mistakes and the strong wind in their face didn’t allow the Lady Wildcats many opportunities to begin the game and Bridge Creek capitalized with five goals in the opening 15 minutes.
They finally stemmed the tide a bit later in the half as Zamirah Mata cut inside off the left wing and booted one past the Lady Bobcat keeper.
With the wind at their backs in the second half, the Lady Wildcats controlled possession much of the frame but couldn’t find the net with anythingdespiteseveralgood looks from Mata and Isabel Stuckey.
Coach Nathan Fitch credited Hadon Stuckey with a solid game on the defensive end.
“I think we are a whole lot better team than what we showed, and on a different day with a full strength team we could have definitely competed better,” Fitch said. “We are learning that matches are won and lost in moments and we have just been on the wrong side of those moments recently. The performance doesn’tdefinewhoweareand we are going to work hard over the break to prepare for the district opener.”
Boys
The Wildcats held a distinct possession edge throughout the contest and peppered the net for a whopping 30 shots on goal to take advantage.
Adrian Gomez put on an offensive clinic with a hat trick and then some as he finished with four Madill goals. Yael Corona and Alex Gonzalez each contributed a goal as well.
Head coach Jose Cortes also pointed to the play of Corona, Saul Martinez and Alex Orta for controlling the middle and wings Yade Sanchez and Gomez for applying constant pressure to score along with Sammy Duran.
“We played Wildcat soccer after a slow start,” Cortes said. “I thought our defenders Juan Narvaez, Flavio Ibarra, AlexGarciaandJuanPadron played extremely well on the back line all night long. Chris Narvaez was outstanding in goal once again as well.”
