Local Teen Excels in Competitive Shotgun Sports

Ewan Weaver, an incoming senior at Kingston High School, has had an impressive and successful summer competing in Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) shotgun sports across multiple states.

Weaver began his summer competition at the New MexicoStateShoot,heldMay 21–25, 2025, at the renowned NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM. There, he earned the titles of Non-Resident Junior Runner-Up in both Singles and Handicap, and wasnamedtheNon-Resident Junior High All-Around Recipient—a testament to his skill across all disciplines. The following week, he competed at the Oklahoma State Shoot, hosted May 30–June 1 by the Oklahoma Trap and Skeet Association in El Reno, Oklahoma.

On June 20, Weaver traveled to Dallas, Texas, where he was named Runner-Up in the Male Youth Division at the Giving Hope Sporting Clays Buckle Classic, held at Elm Fork Shooting Sports.

Most recently, Weaver participatedintheSouthwest Zone Shoot at Fort Worth Trap and Skeet. He captured first place in the Class C Singles and Junior Doubles preliminary events and went on to win Handicap Yardage 19–21.5 in the championship event.

Next up, Weaver will head to Sparta, Ill., July 24–28 to compete in the prestigious AIM Grand National Youth Championships, where he will represent Oklahoma both as an individual and as a member of the Oklahoma Dusters team.

Ewan’s growing list of accomplishments reflects not only his dedication to the sport but also his talent, discipline, and sportsmanship. He takes great pride in representing Marshall County and the state of Oklahoma on the national stage.
