Donald Walter Whittaker, 92, of Lindsay, Okla., passed away on December 4, 2024. He was born on December 22, 1931, near Aztec, NM to the late Slater Donald Whittaker and Ola Mae Latham Whittaker. Don was raised in Stonewall, Okla., and graduated from Crane High School in Crane, Texas.
HemarriedNancyBethEvansonJune 1, 1950, in Crane, Texas. They lived in Crane, Texas, Maysville, Okla., Healdton, Okla., and Madill for several years before moving to Lindsay, where they lived the past five years.
Don and Nancy owned and operated Bridgeview Resort on Lake Texoma for 23 years. He was a member of the Madill Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. Don enjoyed woodworking and loved helping people. He served on the Southern Oklahoma Nutrition Board for many years. He also served on the school board in Madill for one term. In 2007, he was honored to receive the Katie Hayward Volunteer of the Year award.
Don was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Winford Whittaker He is survived by his wife, Nancy Whittaker; children, Carol Cameron and husband, Claude, Jim Whittaker and wife, Anita; brother,Richard Whittaker and wife, Louise; grandchildren, Charles Cameron and wife Shelly, Carlton Cameron and wife, Misty, Carson Cameron and wife, Summer, Shauna Stinnett and husband, Michael and Jamie Allison; 12 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday, December 9, 2024, at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Interment was at Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill, Okla.
Larry Holder will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
Casket Bearers will be Charles Cameron, Carlton Cameron, Carson Cameron, Michael Stinnett, Tanner Deatherage and Caycen Work.
