Mobile apps have been around for many years. The first mobile app was introduced in 1983 for use on personal digital assistants (PDAs). However, the technology that revolutionized mobile apps didn’t emerge till 2008 when the App Store was released. The Marshall County Sheriff Office is stepping into the 21 st century by announcing their new app. Once released, the app will have multiple functions for residents to use. The functions will include Submit a Tip, Jail Information, Most Wanted, Push Notifications and more. MCSO said they are eager to launch the app and all the benefits that will come with downloading it. “We are very excited about the app,” Undersheriff LaTasha Broadhead said, “and all the app has to offer not only to our office, but our community and whoever visits Marshall County.” Some people believe that apps are a passing fad and aren’t important. However, having apps on one’s phone helps with more than just convenience. It opens a line of communication when it is important. Giving residents access to the sheriff’s office by simply tapping an app can be crucial in an emergency.
