Madill Candidate Summer Bryant

On April 1, Madill will hold an election for an open seat on the city council. The city council is a way for the people to vote for the candidate they feel will give the best support to their voices.

One of the candidates running for the open seat is Summer Bryant. Bryant has lived in Madill for most of her life. She moved to Madill as a small child with her family. Ever since moving here as a child, except for her time in college, she’s lived in Madill. Even though Bryant wasn’t born in Madill, her family has made it their home, even including some extended family who came to the area.

Bryant said she feels comfortable as a Madill resident. Part of Madill’s charm is the hospitality and support within the community. Bryant said there’s a strong sense of support throughout the city. Bryant has welcomed the citizens with open arms, and they returned it in kind, she said fondly.

Bryant graduated from Madill High School in 2002. She continued her education with various programs, including Upward Bound program at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She also studied photojournalism at Devry University.

Bryant has been a member of multiple organizations. She is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, in which she has been the President and Vice President during her six-year run. Bryant is also the President of many other organizations, such as Partners in Progress, Madill Little League of Football and Cheer and the Rotary Club.

Bryant is currently the Vice President of Marshall County Tourism Board and Executive Director of Chickasaw Marketing Association. Other programs of which she is a member includes, Madill School Planning Committee, Family Health care of Southern Oklahoma, Sand Bass Committee and Madill Alumni.

Bryant said she is motivated to run for city council by a desire to foster a positive community. Things change within a community that can affect citizen’s livelihood. She said she believes that having an open mind and education will be the best way to support the community.

If she is elected, she said she aims to bring about positive change, focusing on growth and development. She said she desires to ensure that all the voices within the community are heard. She stated that her education, passion and experience can be an asset as a city council member.
