Twelve Madill athletes qualify for 4A State Track

Yadira Barbosa and Hadon Stuckey each claimed regional championships to lead 12 Madill athletes into this week’s Class 4A State Track and Field Meet in Catoosa.

Barbosa won the regional crown in the 3,200 meters with a time of 11 minutes, 51.22 seconds while also placing second in the 1,600 meters in 5:30.19 and fourth in the 800 meters at 2:29.31.

Stuckey meanwhile took pole vault title honors with a top leap of 8 feet, 6 inches. She also placed fourth in the 200 meters in 26.47 seconds. Isabell Stuckey also checked in sixth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.33 seconds.

The Lady Wildcats’ grouping of Joshlynn Clayburn, Hadon Stuckey, Isabell Stuckey and Tillie Chapa produced a third in the 800 relayat1:47.09withthesame unit finishing fourth in the sprint relay clocking in at 50.36 seconds.

On the boys’ side, Aroddy Camacho led the Wildcats with a third place showing of 50.33 seconds in the 400 meters while Ryder Douglas contributed a fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.54.

Three Madill relay teams all placed to score points for the Wildcats, spurred by the sprint relay (400 meters) unit of Justin Smith, Dayden Ramos, Jaxon Diaz and Camacho with third place in 43.62 seconds. The same grouping was fourth in the 800 relay at 1:30.84.

The 3,200 relay foursome of Gael Gallegos, Blane Hawthorne, Jayden Barbosa and Alex Gonzalez wrapped up fifth with a time of 8:51.08.
