KES 3rd graders put on 'wax museum'

The Kingston Elementary third grade classes presented a“living”waxmuseum.Other classes, teachers, parents, and the community were invited to tour the museum of famous Oklahomans.

Each third grader dressed up as a famous individual and presented why they were famous at the push of a “button”. There were notable figures represented from Oklahoma such as singers Blake Shelton, Greg Daniels, Garth Brooks, and Reba McEntire.

Famous athletes and coaches included Blake Griffin, Jim Thorpe, wrestler Bill Goldberg, Chelsea Dungee, Sherri Coale and Abe Lemons. There was the first female governor of Oklahoma, Mary Fallin and Olympic medalist Shannon Miller, as well. Third grade teacher Kristy Cole said even though the students were nervous, they did exceptionally well.

“All the kids were nervous, one little girl has been up since 1 a.m.; she was so nervous,” Cole said. “Once they all got into costume they started getting more into character.”

For several weeks, the children worked on learning their lines for the event. Before they could do that, they had to research about the individual they would portray.

“They have all been doing so well” said Cole as she watched the students enthusiastically share the knowledge they learned.
