Illegal grow operation found in the county

On July 19, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, along withtheOklahomaBureauof Narcotics, stopped an illegal grow operation on the outskirts of the county. Several weeks prior, Sheriff Donald Yow received a tip about a possible illegal grow operation in the southern part of the county, off of HWY 377 and Fobb Bottom Road.

Yow reached out to the OBN to verify that the business had a license to operate and grow marijuana. Yow then found out that the business did not have a license and was operating illegally. The sheriff’s office then filed several intel reports on the grow operation when officers would pass and see or smell something.

The OBN Marijuana Enforcement Team obtained a searchwarrantandexecuted it on July 19. At the time of the warrant, there were only three employees present and the owner was not on the property. MCSO, along with OBN, the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police, Madill Police Department and Oklahoma Department of Wildlife located and seized over 5200 plants and over 170 pounds of finished product. The Marshall CountyCommissioners assisted in removing and destroying the plants.

Charges are being filed for the owner of the grow operation and MCSO is working to file forfeitures on the two vehicles.Theemployeeswere released because it cannot be proven that they knew it was an illegal operation.
