Ardmore woman arrested after chase

An Ardmore woman was arrested after a string of incidents. On August 3, Madill Police Officer Bobby Morgan received a call pertaining to a hit and run suspect. The alleged vehicle was a four-door silver Chrysler STO.

It was originally said to be at BancFirst in Madill. However, the vehicle left that location and was being followed by a Madill City employee who was a witness to the hit and run.

Morgan activated his emergency lights and caught up to the suspect. Morgan andMarshallCountyDeputy Paul both began to engage the vehicle.

Paul saw the vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 17 and Chickasaw Street in Mannsville. Officers witnessed the vehicle continue down Hwy 177, then roll into a residence ditch.

Morgan approached the vehicle with his weapon drawn. The officer alleged that he then saw the driver, later identified as Roxy Balentine, slumped over the driver seat inhaling a can of Compressed Gas Cleaner.

Morgan attempted to gain access to the vehicle by opening the passenger-side door, but it was locked. He then kicked in the window. Once the officers gained access to the vehicle, they removed Balentine from it.

Officers noticed that the suspect was drooling while he was escorting her to his vehicle. Paul then contacted EMS for a welfare check and Morgan inventoried the vehicle.

Morgan found that the canned air came in a package of four. The can Balentine was alleged to be inhaling during the arrest was almost empty.

Morgan transported Balentine to Alliance Health Madill for a blood draw and then, brought her to the Marshall County Detention Center to book her. Baletine, a 30-yearold female from Ardmore was booked for Eluding/ Attempting to Elude, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Damage and DUI.
