Beloved teacher dies in accident

Many people in Marshall County are mourning the passing of a beloved teacher. Rita Straub, 76, was killed in a one-vehicle accident September 28.

She was driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and traveling eastbound in Wilburton. Law officials say her vehicle departed the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed. The vehicle then traveled approximately 420 feet before coming to a rest in a creek.

Straub was a teacher at Kingston Schools for 34 years and retired in 2004.

Many people took to Facebook to talk about how sad they were to hear of her passing.

'Shewassuchasweetlady and teacher,' one poster said.

'I am so sad and you will be missed by so many, I love you,' posted another.

'So sorry, praying for the family,' said another poster.' She was an amazing lady.'
