The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about potential scam calls that have been circulating. According to MCSO Donald Yow, several residents have received a phone call from somebody claiming to be Sgt. Dennis Lewis with the MCSO.
This supposed officer will then tell the residents that they have a warrant that needs to be paid. The suspect will then ask the resident for their banking information to pay for the fake warrant.
Yow said that there is no officers at the sheriff's office named Lewis. The scammer calls potential victims from 580-757-3106. Yow said he called that number and couldn'tgetanyonetoanswer although, he left a message.
Yow said suggests for residents to ignore the call if they receive one from that number. Also, if a resident is worried they might have an outstanding warrant, please call the MCSO at 580-7952221 to speak to an actual officer.
