Wildcats end season with a win over the Black Diamonds

The Madill Wildcats win dampened the spirits for the Sallisaw Black Diamonds senior night. Both teams fought hard, but the Black Diamonds just couldn’t hold off the Wildcats when they won on November 3 at the Perry F. Lattimore Stadium in Sallisaw.

Head coach Chad Speer had the Wildcats fired up scoring on their first possession with #23 Stephen Sisco receiving a touchdown pass from quarterback #8 Ty Rushing. The extra point was good, giving the Wildcats a 7-0 lead to start the game.

The next score came when Rushing made a touchdown with a 1-yard rushing play. However, the extra point was missed, leaving the score 13-0.

Sallisaw head coach Mark Hutson got the Black Diamonds on track with their first points coming from a field goal, bringing the score to 13-3 at the ends of the first quarter. The second quarter consisted of good plays by both teams’ defensive units, keeping the score 13-3 going into halftime.

The Wildcats came out for the third quarter and continued to dominate with Rushing throwing a touchdown pass to Sisco, scoring the third touchdown of the night. The extra point was good,increasingtheWildcat’s lead to 20-3 at the end of the third quarter.

TheBlackDiamondscame alive at the beginning of the fourth quarter with quarterback #10 Jackson Harris throwing a touchdown to #22 Brogue Oft. When the extra point was good, the Wildcat’s lead diminished to 20-10.

With motivated players from both sides and 8:07 minutes left in the game, the Black Diamonds’ wide receiver #1 Ce’alm Kilpatrick scoredwitha23-yardrushing touchdown. The extra point was good, making the score 20-17 with the Wildcats still in the lead.

Sallisaw’s defense came through with a big interception by #1 Sam Kilpatrick, giving them the ball back and a chance to take the lead from the Wildcats.

Then, with 4:37 minutes left in the game, Sallisaw’s #3 Cole Stevens ran a 1-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point was good, giving the BlackDiamondsthefirstlead of the game at 24-20.

With mere minutes left in the game, the Wildcats #88 River Shaw caught a receiving pass for a touchdown. Even though the extra point kick was blocked by Ce’alm Kilpatrick, the score ended up being 26-24 Madill. The Wildcats ended the season with a 4-6 record, barely missing the playoffs.
