Madill’s high school boys took second and the girls claimed third in the team standingsattheseason-opening Marietta Cross Country Invitational last weekend.
The Wildcats had a pair of Top 10 placers and four individual medalists in the event while on the youthladen girls side, Madill had one medalist.
Coach Cale Eidson’s squads will be on their home course Saturday morning when they host their annual regular season invitational meet.
Freshman Dayanara Martinez-Valenciano was the Lady Wildcat medalist, placing 15th in her first high school meet with a time of 13 minutes, 35.8 seconds. Several other Madill runners were close behind with 11 of the girls all placing in the Top 50 in the tough opening meet.
Isabell Stuckey was 19th in 14:07.2, Jayleen Vasquez took 21st at 14:14.4, Katelyn Acquaviva checked in 27th in 14:53.7 and Rita Camacho clocked in with a 14:54.4 to finish 28th.
The Lady Wildcats also had Caylee Martinez, 35th (15:20.8); Klarivel Aldava, 36th (15:23.6); Zamira Mata, 37th (15:24.4); Chloe Mc-Williams, 43rd (16:00.4); Jeylah Cabrales, 44th (16:07.8); Bryssa Reyes, 48th (16:44.9); Samantha Ortiz, 56th (17:50.4); and Hadon Stuckey, 59th (18:15.6).
Sophomore Alex Gonzalez was the catalyst of the Madill boys finishers with a solid sixth place finish in 18 minutes, 46.1 seconds over the 5,000-meter course. Teammate Jayden Barbosa also claimed Top 10 honors while clocking in ninth at 19:17.8. The other Wildcat medalists were Blane Hawthorne, who checked in 14th with a mark of 19:45.8 while Dylan Serrano ended 15th at 19:58.1.
Yadel Sanchez notched a 22nd place finish of 20:53.2, AlexOrtawas26thin21:13.7, Gael Gallegos posted a 36th at 22:13.1, Lorenzo Vasquez crossed in 37th with a 22:15.4 and Saul Martinez ended 39th clocking in at 22:20.8.
Other Wildcat finishers were Dayton Giminez, 42nd (22:26.4); Xavier Quintanilla, 47th (22:45.1); Pablo Montes, 49th (23:03.4); Akzel Fernandez, 51st (23:13.3); Neymar Camacho, 60th (24:12.7); Vincent Acquaviva, 62nd (24:29.8); Jacob Dean, 74th (25:48.6); Azaeel Rivera, 75th (25:50.4); Axel Recio, 78th (25:58.8); Yael Corona, 79th (26:10.4); Luis Gonzalez-Palomino, 84th (27:03.1); Jesus Camacho, 93rd (28:27.4); Braysen Carnes, 94th (28:32.7); and Marco Espinosa, 99th (29:28.6).
