The Madill Wildcats (5-4) hosted the Little Axe Indians (0-9) on Friday, November 5 for senior night. Junior Samy Trevino (37 punting yards) got the game started kicking to the Indians, giving the Indians a first and ten at the 29-yard line.

Little Axe threw a completed pass for second and five on the 35-yard line. The Indians tried to run but was met by junior Josh Schneider for the tackle. The Indians went for it on fourth and two where Schneider is there once again for the tackle.

The Wildcats took over for first and ten from the 39-yard line. Senior Kendall Robertson (154 passing yards; 94 rushing yards) handed off to junior Stephen Sisco (39 rushing yards; 72 receiving yards; 34 punting yards) for a 39-yard touchdown with senior Nick Northcutt (82 receiving yards) catching the two-point conversion. Wildcats took the lead 8 to 0 with 10:13 remaining in the first quarter.

Trevino kicked off to the Indians where sophomore Diego Navarrete made the tackle, leaving Madill for a first and ten from the 30- yard line. The Indians made a complete pass for a gain of seven yards with junior Ty Rushing (52 passing yards) making the stop.

Little Axe ran for a first down where Schneider and senior Ezekiel Fuentes (34 receiving yards) made the tackle. Madill called time out. The Indians were tackled by senior Cornelius Smith for no gain making it second and ten. Little Axe threw long for an incomplete pass for third and ten. Junior River Shaw sacked the Little Axe quarterback for a loss of yards making it fourth and twenty from the 45-yard line.

The Indians went for it but threw an incomplete pass with Northcutt and sophomore Caden McHatton on the coverage. Wildcats took over for a first and ten on the 45- yard line. Robertson tried to run but lost one yard on the play for a first and eleven.

Robertson handed off to sophomore Rey Gomez (59 rushing yards) for a gain of 18 yards giving the Wildcats a first and ten from the 37- yard line. Robertson threw a complete pass to Sisco with a gain of three yards. Robertson ran but Madill is called for a holding penalty.

Robertson’s pass to Northcutt was incomplete making it third and seven. Robertson completed a pass to Sisco, but Madill got a penalty for ineligible receiver, making it third and thirteen from the 40-yard line.

Robertson and Northcutt connected for a complete pass for fourth and one from the 28-yard line. Rey took the handoff from Robertson but was unable to gain any yardage. Little Axe took over for a first and ten from the 28-yard line.

The Indians gained eight yards where Schneider made the tackle. Big yards gained for Little Axe for a first down with Shaw making the stop. Little Axe gained two yards before being stopped by Smith and Schneider for a second and eight from the 40-yard line.

The Indians got nowhere on the next play with Shaw and senior Danny Lima there to make the stop. The Indians threw where Robertson batted down the ball making it a fourth and eight on the 40-yard line.

Head Coach Chad Speer said the team played well despite the shenanigans from the other team. “Defensively we did a good job with all the funky stuff Little Axe was trying to do,” Speer said.

Little Axe called time out and decided to kick to Madill. The kick rolled dead at the 15- yard line. Sisco caught a pass from Robertson for a gain of 11 yards for a first down. Sophomore Reagan Combs (47 rushing yards) took the hand off from Robertson for 23 yards gained. Combs took another handoff from Robertson and got two more yards. Robertson threw to Sisco for a 49-yard touchdown. Senior Jimena Guevara kicked the extra point, and Wildcats led 15 to 0 with 1:20 left in the first quarter.

Trevino kicked off to the Indians where sophomore Josh Mann made the tackle. Little Axe had a first and ten from the 22-yard line. Shaw got the quarterback sack for a loss of five yards.

Little Axe threw an incomplete pass with Rushing on the coverage. Junior Adan Yanez sacked the quarterback for a loss of 7 yards, making it third and 22.

The Indians punted to the Wildcats to start the second quarter. where the ball is fumbled with Little Axe recovering. The Indians ran but called for a 10-yard block in the back penalty, making it first and twenty-three from the 41.

The Indians threw an incomplete pass for second and twenty-three. The Indians threw a complete pass for a first and ten with Rushing making the tackle.

Northcutt intercepted the ball with a minute shaved off the clock. Robertson attempted a handoff where the ball was fumbled, and Little Axe recovered. Little Axe tried to run up the middle, but Smith and freshman Joel Gonzalez made the stop.

Little Axe lost two yards on the next hand off, making it third and twelve from the 14-yard line. Smith got the quarterback sack for a loss of yardage. The Indians went for it on fourth down, but the pass was incomplete. Madill took over for a first and ten on the 27-yard line in Indian territory.

Robertson kept the ball and got three yards. Northcutt caught the pass from Robertson for a first and ten at the 38-yard line. Robertson and Sisco were unable to connect for a complete pass.

Robertson kept the ball and ran for a first down. Rey took the handoff from Robertson and gained 7 yards for second and third. Northcutt was unable to catch the pass thrown by Robertson making it third and three from the 42.

The Wildcats switched it up with McHatton throwing a pass to Robertson, but the pass was incomplete. Wildcats called time out. Robertson threw an incomplete pass to Shaw, then Little Axe took over. Little Axe pass was incomplete, but Rey is called for pass interference giving the Indians a first and ten from the 43-yard line in Wildcat terrain.

The Indians gained seven yards before being stopped by Smith. The Indians tried to run the ball again, but Gonzalez and Smith were there to make the stop, no yards gained. Little Axe made a quick throw before being tackled by Shaw. Wildcats took over for a first and ten on the 43 in Indian territory. Robertson kept the ball and ran for a 62-yard touchdown. Guevara kicked the extra point. Wildcats led 22 to 0 with 5:52 left in the first half.

“Offensively we were able to run the ball which is always good,” Speer said. “We had some guys made some plays throwing the ball too.”

Trevino kicked off to the Indians. Little Axe threw the ball and ran with McHatton getting the stop. The Indians tried to run but is met by Gonzalez for no yards gained.

Little Axe made an incomplete pass with Rey on the coverage. The Indians tried to throw again but was unable to connect, Wildcats took over.

Rey took the handoff from Robertson to get a first down at the 11-yard line. McHatton and Robertson were unable to connect for a complete pass. Robertson threw to Northcutt for a Wildcat touchdown. The extra point by Guevara is good. Madill led 29 to 0 with 4:04 left in the half.

Trevino kicked off to the Indians where the ball rolled out of bounds at the 35-yard line. Little Axe attempted a pass where Shaw batted it down to made second and ten for the Indians. Little Axe threw long where Fuentes made the interception for a first and ten at the 32-yard line in Indian territory.

Robertson ran the ball for a first down at the 45-yard line. Robertson threw a complete pass to Northcutt, but the Wildcats were called for a 10-yard chop block penalty. First and twenty-one at the 35-yard line for the Wildcats.

Robertson threw a complete pass to Sisco for 8 yards gained. Northcutt caught a 58-yard throw from Robertson for a touchdown. The extra point is good by Guevara. Madill led 36 to 0 with 2:48 left in the quarter.

Trevino kicked off to the Indians. The Indians threw for a first down at the 37-yard line. The Indians fumbled the ball where the Wildcats recovered for a first and ten on the 18-yard line.

Rushing took the handoff from Robertson for a touchdown. Wildcat went for a two-point conversion but was unable to connect. Wildcats 42 to 0 with 2:05 left in the quarter.

Trevino kicked off to the Indians where Combs made the tackle. The Indians tried to run the ball, but Rey was there to make the stop. An incomplete pass was thrown by the Indians with Rey on the coverage. Fuentes made the interception and Madill took over for a first and ten at the 18-yard line.

“We created a bunch of turnovers so that was huge creating short fields for the offense,” Speer noted.

Robertson handed off to Combs for another Wildcat touchdown. Guevara’s extra point was good. Wildcats 49 to 0.

Trevino kicked to the Indians where the Indians had a first and ten at the 16-yard line. Little Axe ran but fumbled the ball, and the Wildcats took over for first and ten at the 17-yard line. Rushing comes in the game as quarterback for a gain of one yard that will end the first half.

The second half starts with Little Axe kicking to the Wildcats for a first and ten at the 34-yard line. Rushing handed off to Rey for a gain of three yards. Rushing threw an incomplete pass for second and seven.

Rushing was unable to connect a complete pass for third and seven. Trevino punted to the Indians for a first and ten on the 26-yard line. Little Axe threw a pass where Smith intercepted for a first and ten at the Indians 13-yard line.

Rushing was unable to complete the pass for a second and ten. Combs took the hand off from Rushing for five-yard gain. Rushing kept the ball and was tackled for a loss of two yards. Rushing threw an incomplete pass, and Little Axe took over for a first and ten at the 10-yard line.

The Indians ran for a 7-yard gain. Indians threw an incomplete pass. The Indians got a first down from the 21- yard line. The Indians threw a 20-yard complete pass. The Indians threw a pass where sophomore TyRon Glover made the interception to end the quarter.

Wildcats took over on the first and ten at the Indian 29-yard line. Rey took the handoff from Rushing but was unable to gain yards. Rushing threw an incomplete pass. Sophomore Blayze Adams took the handoff from Rushing for a couple of yards gained. Rushing threw a 34-yard pass to Fuentes for a Wildcat touchdown. The extra point by Guevara is no good. Wildcats led 55 to 0.

Guevara kicked to the Indians where the Indians ran for a 32-yard return. The Indians connected a complete pass for a touchdown. Extra point was no good. Wildcats led 55 to 6.

The Indians kick to Madill where Mann returns the ball for 4 yards. Freshman Eli Vinson was quarterback where he handed off to Adams for a one-yard gain. Vinson connected a complete pass to junior Landon Melton for a two-yard gain. Vinson kept the ball and tried to run but lost 5 yards.

Sisco punted to the Indians. The Indians threw an incomplete pass that ended the game, Madill won 55 to 6. Speer said this win was bittersweet for the seniors.

“Happy for our Seniors. Very appreciative of the work they have put into our program,” said Speer. “They have done a great job and I’m very proud of them.”
