Madill traveled to Kingston on December 7 to play the Redskins. The Lady Cats got the action started with Senior Joslyn Stumblingbear hitting a two-point shot off a rebound with 50 seconds shaved offthe clock. The Lady Redskins answered back with a three-pointer. Senior Jayden Weiberg is called for a foul and Kingston makes both free throws.

Weiberg in bounds the ball and runs it up the court only to turn over and the Lady Redskins take advantage with a two-point drive to the bucket. Weiberg again runs the ball up the court and is stolen by Kingston and Kingston scores another two points. Weiberg perseveres and swishes a three-pointer.

The Lady Cats get the ball gain with Stumblingbear passing to Senior Braylee Schneider for an under basket two points. Senior Abbie Lambertsen is fouled and makes one free throw.

Kingston shoots for two points, steals the ball, and swishes a three-pointer. With 1:18 left in the quarter, Kingston leads 14 to eight. Kingston is fouled and added a free throw to the score. With eight seconds on the clock, Junior Aubrie Cantrell pops a three-pointer. The Lady Redskins lead 15 to 11.

Kingston drives the ball up the court and is stolen by Madill. Weiberg took advantage by popping a threepointer with only 15 seconds gone in the second quarter. Kingston turned over the ball to the Wildcats with Weiberg driving it up the court for a two-point layup. The Lady Cats led 15 to 16. It doesn’t take long, and Kingston pops a three-pointer to take over the lead.

Stumblingbear dribbles the ball up court but is stolen by Kingston for a two point layup. Sophomore Hannah Elkins passes to Schneider for two-point jump shot, got a foul and added two free throw points to tie the game 20 all.

The Lady Redskins quickly add two-two point shots back to back. The Lady Cats inbound the ball and Hannah is fouled adding one free throw. Madill rebounds a shot taken from Kingston and Weiberg returns it with three points. Hannah pops a two-point jump shot. Kingston drives for three points. Schneider adds two more points, followed by Kingston driving for two points.

Cantrell slows down the offense and pops a threepointer to tie the game 31 all. The Lady Cats foul and Kingston adds two free throw points. Lambertsen is then fouled and adds two free throw points. Kingston is then fouled and added one free throw.

Lambertsen’s pass is stolen and the Lady Redskins pop three points to tie the game at 35. Madill fouls and Kingston adds two free throw points to the board. Stumblingbear ran the ball down the court, passes to Hannah and she swished a three pointer. The Lady Redskins were fouled and add another two-point free throw. Kingston led 39 to 38 at halftime.

Weiberg popped a threepointer to start the third quarter. The Lady Redskins took advantage of Madill’s turn over mishaps to add two-two pointers back-toback and drew a foul for one free throw point. The Lady Redskins turned and popped a three pointer. Lambertsen drove for two points. Lambertsen called for a technical foul allowing Kingston two add two free throw points.

Kingston was able to add two more points to close out the third quarter with Kingston leading 51 to 43.

The fourth quarter started with Kingston popping three points, but Weiberg answered right back with three points. The Lady Redskins add two two-point shots back-to-back. Madill fouled and Kingston added two free throw shots.

With 4:07 left in the game, the Lady Redskins increased their lead 60 to 46. Schneider was fouled for one free throw point. Kingston added two more pointers. Schneider answered back with two points. Kingston added two more points.

Weiberg added two points. Two two-point shots back-toback for the Lady Redskins. Weiberg swishesd a three pointer. Hannah popped a three-pointer to end the game with Kingston winning 69 to 57. Head Coach Shawn Runyan said,” I was pleased overall with the Kingston game.”

The Wildcats took the court next with the Redskins putting two points on the board to start the first quarter. Senior Ezekiel Fuentes swished a three-pointer. Wildcats fouled and Kingston added one-point free throw. The Redskins added two more points, then Fuentes added two points. Kingston drew a foul and added one free throw. Fuentes got fouled and added two-point free throws. The Redskins drilled a threepointer to take the lead 9 to 7 with 2:20 left in the first quarter. Wildcats fouled the Redskins for one-point free throw. Wildcats fouled again to give Kingston another onepoint free throw. Sophomore Brylan James swooshed a three-pointer to end the quarter with Kingston leading 11 to 10.

The second quarter brought hard fought defense with the Redskins adding a two-pointjump shot with 2:49 left in the first half. Wildcats fouled and Kingston added two points free throws. Ju-nior River Shaw got fouled and added one-point free throw. Junior RJ Morris popped a three-pointer. Kingston answered back with three points. Wildcats fouled the Redskins for two more free throw points. Kingston increased the lead, 20 to 14 to close out the quarter.

Senior Kendall Robertson got a three-pointer to start the second half of play. The Redskins added a two-point jump shot. Kingston was called for a technical foul and Fuentes went to the line. Fuentes made both free throws.

Kingston responded with two back-to-back two-point jump shots. Senior Nick Northcutt added two points. Wildcats fouled sending Kingston to the line for twopoint free throws. Northcutt got two more points. Madill fouled and Kingston added two more free throw points. Kingston closed out the third quarter with two points, leading 32 to 23.

Madill fouled Kingston to start the last quarter of the game, allowing Kingston to add two free throw points. Morris drove for two points. Kingston popped a threepointer and a two-pointer back-to-back. Fuentes drove for a three-point shot. Kingston got a two-point jump shot. Fuentes got a two-point lay-up.

Kingston hustled for two more points and a foul, adding two points from free throws. Shaw shot to add two points. Wildcats fouled sending Kingston to the line for two more free throw points. Kingston got another two points. Wildcats fouled and Kingston added two more free throws closing out the game. Kingston won 51 to 32.

Head Coach Brett Weiberg, “I thought Kingston played well. We did not take care of the ball and while Kingston has a lot to do with that, I would like to think we can and should do better. We need to learn from this.”

Madill hosted the Winter Classic on December 9 through December 11. The Lady Cats played Thursday night against the Marietta Indians. The Lady Cats lost 56 to 45.

Runyan said, “I wasn’t happy with how we played against Marietta.”

The Lady Wildcats ended the first half of play leading by one point, 25 to 24 with Weiberg leading Madill with 11 points. The Lady Indians put the pressure on Madill scoring 34 points in the second half of the game, with Madill only scoring 20 points.

“We were flat. Passes weren’t very crisp,” said Runyan. “We missed seven free throws and eight block shots/layups in the fourth quarter. Hard to win leaving that many points on the table against good teams.”

Weiberg led the Lady Cats in the second half with seven points. Other Madill top scorers, Hannah had a total of nine points; Stumblingbear eight points; Cantrell seven points.

The Wildcats played the Marietta Indians for the last game ofthe evening, winning 53 to 17. “The boys played hard from the start to finish,” said Weiberg.

Madill scored 27 points in the first half, with Marietta scoring seven points. Fuentes led the scoring in the first half with 12 points. Other top scorers were Morris with seven points and Northcutt with six points. Madill added another 26 points in the second half, only allowing the Indians 10 points. Sophomore Greg Padgett was the top scorer in the second half with six points.

“We made plays and a lot of the plays started with our defense creating offensive opportunities,” said Weiberg. “It was a good win for us.”

Friday the Lady Cats played the Boswell Scorpions playing a better game, scoring 34 points in the first half only allowing the Lady Scorpions to score nine points. Weiberg was the top scorer in the first half with seven points. Stumblingbear and Senior Lydia Landgraf had six points each.

“We came out playing better from the start on Friday,” said Runyan.

Madill sure did play better, adding 26 more points in the second half to Boswell’s 13. Sophomore Haylee Elkins led the second half with 10 points. Excitement was added to the game when foreign exchange student, Senior Leonie Hamm, from France made her first two points.

The Wildcats played the Boswell Scorpions, winning in a nail biter, 37 to 35. The Scorpions outscored the Wildcats in the first half 18 to 14. Fuentes was the top scorer with 10 points for the Wildcats.

“The first half we did not get the ball to the paint, and we struggled to get a rhythm and flow,” said Weiberg.

The Scorpions scored 17 points in the second half with the Wildcats scoring 22 points. Robertson hit a twopoint jump shot in the last six seconds of the game for the Wildcat win. Fuentes would once again lead the Wildcats in scoring with 14 points.

Weiberg said, “the second half we moved the ball better and we also had high post touched and paint touches. Boswell is a well-coached team, and we were fortunate to get the win.”

Saturday the Lady Cats played for fifth place against the Pauls Valley Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers led the first half 18 to 13.

“We did not start well,” said Runyan. “We turned it over a little more than we should have. Shot pretty decent overall.”

Weiberg had seven points in the first half, and Stumblingbear had six points. The second halfthe Lady Wildcats rebounded with 28 points, allowing 21 points from the Lady Panthers. Madill won fifth place beating Pauls Valley 43 to 39. Weiberg was chosen Madill Winter Classic all-tournament team. “Defensively we were pretty solid,” said Runyan. “We gave up a few extra rebounds that we should not have.”

Stumblingbear led the Lady Cats with eight points in the second half; Weiberg had seven points. The Wildcats played Mount St. Mary on Saturday in the Championship game. The Wildcats lost 57 to 30. “It was a tough night for us. Mt. St. Mary played well and really got after us defensively,” said Weiberg. “We were not able to get into any type of offensive rhythm.”

Fuentes with seven points led the Wildcats in the first half.

“We turned the ball over way too much against their pressure and we can’t win doing that. We need to watch the film and learn from this game,” Weiberg said.

Fuentes once again led the Wildcats in the second half with five points. Fuentes was named all-tournament forthe Winter Classic. Madill placed runner up.

“We had great community support for our Winter Classic, and it was a success. The only reason for the success is because we had so many school employees and community supporters that volunteered their time and energy. On behalf of myself and Madill Schools, I just want to say a huge THANK YOU!” said Weiberg.
