Wildcat runners compete at McLoud Blackberry

Racing toward the postseason, the Madill High School cross country squad returned to action last weekend with the boys placing third and the girls fourth in the McLoud Blackberry Run.

TheWildcatsendedbehind only Class 6A Putnam City West and the OKC Storm Homeschool squad in the team standings. The Madill girls meanwhile claimed fourth just back of Cushing, LutherandtheOKCKnights.

Jayden Barbosa sparked the Wildcats with a Top 10 medalist placing in ninth individually over the 5K course at 18 minutes, 12.60 seconds while teammate Blane Hawthorne ended 12th in 18:16.45 and Dylan Serranowas16thwithamark of 18:29.86. Alex Orta added a 31st place time of 19:08.41 with Yadel Sanchez just behind in 32nd at 19:09.26.

BraysenCarnescheckedin 55th with a time of 20:01.79, Canyon Phillips was 60th in 20:31.15, Xavier Quintanilla added a 66th at 20:41.83 and Dayton Gimenez took 71st with a mark of 20:53.42.

Other Wildcats included Neymar Camacho, 76th (21:05.92); Lorenzo Vasquez, 80th (21:17.87); Akzel Fernandez, 81st (21:20.78); PabloMontes,94th(21:51.89); Vincent Acquaviva, 95th (21:55.50); Azaeel Rivera, 101st (22:13.06); Joshua Gomez, 114th (23:04.03); Axel Recio, 117th (23:11.47); Teo Barrientos, 124th (23:31.65); Jesus Camacho, 150th (25:29.69); and Marco Espinosa, 152nd (25:36.89).

In the girls division, Dayanara Martinez-Valenciano led the charge with a ninth place effort of 13 minutes, 30.82 seconds over the 3,200-meter course.

Isabell Stuckey crossed the stripe in 14:06.64 for 16th while Jayleen Vasquez claimed 23rd with a time of 14:18.92 and Katelyn Acquaviva was 24th at 14:21.94. Jeylah Cabrales posted a 32nd place mark of 14:59.52 as Caylee Martinez took 34th in 15:05.22, Zamira Mata was 36th at 15:19.42 andChloeMcWilliamsadded a 41st place time of 15:34.73.

Other Lady Wildcat finishers in the event were Klarivel Aldava, 47th (15:46.49); Hadon Stuckey, 55th (16:00.35); Bryssa Reyes, 75th (17:22.95); and Samantha Ortiz, 79th (17:35.45).
