The visiting Tuttle Tigers added to recent woes faced by the Madill Wildcats in a 55-7 win on Oct. 4 at Blake Smiley Field.

As a result, Madill dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in district play while Tuttle improved to 5-0 and 2-0.

The hosts looked to get back on trac after a fumble by Tuttle’s Jack Golowenski fumbled at his team’s two-yard line.

Madill took over and lost six yards on a run by Ryan Shahan. A Shahan run of eight yards came back due to a five-yard offensive encroachment penalty. Then, on third and 13 senior running back Mateo Fajardo ran the ball into the endzone for a touchdown. An extra point kick by Francisco Perez made it 7-0 in favor of Madill.

However, the lead was short-lived as Tuttle would start a run of 55 straight points. Golowenski made up for his earlier error with a 68-yard kickoff return to set up the Tigers at the Madill 31. Golowenski then carried the ball 27 yards.

His teammate, Kenard Gonzales, ran in a four-yard touchdown score which Golowenski followed with a kick to tie the game.

After getting the ball back later in the first quarter, Tuttle quarterback Joseph Yarborough threw three incomplete passes before Parker Ross ran for 18 yards to get the first down at the Madill 24. Then, Ross ran for 12 yards and another six yards to bring Tuttle to the Madill 6. Ross completed the job withsix-yard touchdown runon the next play. Ross’ kick made it 14-7 in Tuttle’s favor. That were the score was at the end of the first quarter.

However, it wasn’t long before the Tigers got back into the endzone.

On an early second quarter drive, Yarborough completed a 15-yard pass to Gunner Kerr to move the ball the Madill 35. On the next play, the pair connected again; this time for a pickup of 33 yards to get to the Madill 2. On first and goal, Ross punched in a short touchdown run. Ross added the extra point to push Tuttle’s lead to 21-7.

The turnover bug, which has bitten the Wildcats all season, came back on the next drive. This time the victim was Trey Gammill, who fumbled at the Madill 12. The fumble was scooped up by Tuttle’s Brendan Keller who returned it 12 yards for a score. Another Ross kick bumped up Tuttle’s lead to

28-7.

After halftime, Tuttle kept up their air attack. Joseph Yarborough completed a 37-yard pass to Hunter Anderson to move into Madill territory at the hosts 32-yard line. On the next play, the Tigers completed the drive with a 32-yard touchdown pass by new quarterback Blake Rodgers, who connected with Anderson. Ross’s kick was no good leaving the score 34-7 in favor of the visitors.

Tuttle scored again on their next drive following a 15-yard defensive personal foul penalty. This time Rodgers found Ross for a 39-yard touchdown pass.Ross connected onthe extra point try to boost the Tigers’ lead to 41-7.

The next time Tuttle scored it was due to their running game. Tristan Trulove runs had a big run of 33 yards to take the ball to the Madill 48. On the next play, he took the ball the rest of the way to score a 48-yard touchdown run. Ross’ kick made it 48-7.

The final score of the evening was later in the fourth quarter. As if to complete the cycle, the touchdown was scored by Gonzales, who opened the scoring for Tuttle back in the first quarter. This time he ran 50 yards for the touchdown. The kick by Ross made it 55-7, which was the final score.

Extra Points:

Madill senior starting quarterback Asa Robertson missed the game due to an ankle injury suffered in the Week 4 game at Cushing. A timeline for his return has not released by the Madill coaching staff.

While one Robertson brother was out injured, another, sophomore Kendall Robertson, started at quarterback. He was replaced in the fourth quarter by freshman Ty Rushing. Robertson finished the day 0 for 2 on his pass attempts with one interception. Meanwhile, Rushing was 0 for 3 on passes.

In positive news, Madill High School raised $1,740 for the American Cancer Society during its annual Pink-Out Week. The total was announced during the Tuttle-Madill football game.

Up Next: Madill travels to Harrah, Friday, Oct. 11 in a battle of 1-4 teams. Meanwhile, Tuttle hosts Bethany the same night. Those squads are currently tied for first place for Class 4A District 2 with identical win-loss records of 5-0 overall and 2-0 in district.
