Coach Taylor Weibner, before the game, had observed that the Pauls Valley team was quick, liked to push it up the court, and could shot it from three point range. All things considered you need to rebound, guard the perimeter and play at your pace. And that is what they did.

In first quarter, the Redskins on offense, spread the ball around and six players scored. Kaden Johnson continued his good shooting with a three and a field goal, he was followed by Dakota Weibner who had a three. Brady Brister, Jesse Rose and Jase Hayes all had field goals. Braden Matchen was getting to the free throw line but struggled, he was 1 of 4. On defense, the Redskins did allow two threes and a field goal but that was all. The score after one was 15 to 8.

Second quarter action saw Johnson and Brister with six points each. Hayes scored a field goal and was 1 of 3 from the line. Pauls Valley continued to bomb away from long range but could only manage only two three point goals in the quarter. They did manage to hit four field goals. That still gave the Redskins an 8 point advantage, 30 to 22, going into the half time.

The third quarter saw the offense slow up a bit and the points were harder to come by. Brister managed a pretty three and Hayes and Weibner had field goals each. Johnson was one of two from the free throw line. This was a pattern that continued to plague him. Meanwhile the Panthers only made one three pointer but made up for it on field goals. They pulled to within one point, 38 to 37.

By now the Redskins were controlling the boards on defense and walking the ball back up court. They were not allowing any second chance points. The Panthers could only manage one three point goal the entire quarter. The Redskin offense was having better luck, Brister had two field goals, Hayes and Matchen each had field goals. Weibner added two field goals. The free throw line continued to haunt Johnson, he was 0 for 3. The Redskins coasted to a 48 to 40 win.

The second round win gave Weibners crew a possible rematch with the Madill Wildcats or a date with the Durant Lions in the finals on Saturday night.

Final stats: Brister lead all scorers with 15, followed by Johnson who had 12. Hayes had 9 and Weibner had 7. Matchen had 3 and Rose had 2.
